Many boxers verbally speak about being the best in the world, or the best in their division, but IBF super-lightweight champion Subriel Matias wants to prove he’s the best as he recently sent an open invitation to WBC champion Devin Haney, WBO champion Teofimo Lopez, Rolando “Rolly” Romero, and Ryan Garcia.

In this new age of boxing, some fighters tend to use social media as a tool to troll other fighters. In most cases, they go back and forth about sending a contract, but in the end, nothing materializes from the situation.

Subriel Matias is a fighter who isn’t as vocal as the other boxers, but recently, he decided to send them all a special message.

Matias is the type of fighter who believes action speaks louder than words, and at the moment, he wants to fight all the top dogs at 140.

A native of Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Subriel Matias won the first fifteen fights of his pro boxing career. He suffered defeat for the first time back in February 2020 when he was outpointed by Petros Ananyan.

When asked about the loss to Ananyan, Matias admitted that going into the fight, he wasn’t taking training seriously, and he was dealing with multiple vices. The loss turned out to be a wake-up call for Matias as he proceeded to rededicate himself to the sport of boxing.

Eight months after suffering defeat, Matias made his return to the squared circle by dominating his opponent, Malik Hawkins, for six rounds. Prior to the start of the 7th round, the ringside physician examined Hawkins’s right eye, and then he decided to put a halt to the contest.

After stopping Batyrzhan Jukembayev in the 8th round back in May 2021, Matias signed up for a rematch against Petros Ananyan. In the closing seconds of round nine, Matias landed a left hook that sent Ananyan down to the canvas.

Petros Ananyan was able to get up and stagger back to his corner. With swelling around both eyes and blood running from his nose, the doctor examined Ananyan, and she decided to end the contest.

After avenging his lone defeat, Matias stopped Jeremias Ponce in the 5th round back in February 2023 and won the vacant IBF super-lightweight world title. Later in the same year, Matias posted another fifth round stoppage when he successfully defended his title against Shohjahon Ergashev.

Now the reigning IBF super-lightweight champion Subriel Matias (20-1, 20 KOs) is ready to take down all the big names in the 140-pound division. The hard-hitting Matias posted a video on his Instagram page providing his peers with the official invite.

“The really best at 140 is right here,” Matias stated. “No Teofimo, pu**y. No Ryan, who’s Ryan? No Haney, chicken. No Rolly, he’s a joke. So what’s happening? I’m here. Who want to fight with me? Who?”

Subriel Matias has grown tired of the top guys at 140 consistently ducking him. In addition to the video, two days later, Matias wrote a post on social media and tagged all the boxers he called out.

“Teo- is brave, let him fight in June if it go well. ‘Haney’ Dad thinks he’s talking to stupid people, and you don’t know we’re more than we project, clown. Ryan-a lucky spoiler. It’s the gift that everyone wants, inside the ring it’s nobody. Rolly -a clown who got the wrong sport,” Matias wrote on Instagram.

Teofimo Lopez is scheduled to face Jamaine Ortiz in February, so he’s not available for the immediate future. Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, and Rolly Romero don’t have any upcoming fights scheduled, but it’s very doubtful in regards to one of them stepping up and accepting the high-risk challenge from Subriel Matias.
