Crawford’s Options: Canelo or “Boots” Ennis? Rosado Calls for a Young King’s Challenge

Gabriel Rosado wants Terence Crawford to face the “young killer” Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis because the Philadelphia native has “earned his spot” to meet him.

With Crawford’s rematch against Errol Spence Jr. now potentially off due to Errol’s cataract eye surgery, Terence (40-0, 31 KOs) is going to need a dance partner that will bring in the PPV buys to keep him on top. Fighting Boots is the ideal match.

Rosado believes that the best must fight the best without ducking, and that translates to the 36-year-old Crawford not resting on his laurels, playing it safe or worse, sitting inactive, waiting for a fight against Canelo Alvarez to fall into his lap in 2024.

Crawford can’t return to padding his record, fighting guys like David Avanesyan, Shawn Porter, and Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

Rosado’s Argument: Time for Young Blood

“In all honesty, Boots [Ennis] earned his spot. He beat the guys he was supposed to beat, and they’re in the same weight class,” said Gabriel Rosado to Fighthype on his wanting Terence Crawford to fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis next.

Crawford may not want to take on the young lion, Boots Ennis, but there has to be a changing of the guard, and he can’t ignore this young talent.

If Terence wants to stay on top, he can’t artificially do it by avoiding the talents like Boots, while wishing & praying that ‘The Face of Boxing’ King Canelo will bless him with a golden parachute to give that massive payday to help him in his retirement years., living in grandeur in Beverly HIills.

Can Crawford Keep His Crown Jewel?

“This is a young man’s sport. You the king, you on top, you pound-for-pound, but now you got the young killer coming up. To stay in the game, you gotta fight those dudes,” said Rosado.

What Rosado says is so true. Boxing is a “young man’s sport,” and when you get older fighters trying to ignore the baying hounds at their door, it doesn’t work. Their popularity dips because they’re not giving the fans the fights they want to see due to their self-protective avoidance.
