Bill Haney fired back at legendary promoter Bob Arum today, refuting his reports about the disappointing PPV numbers for the December 9th Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis fight on DAZN.

However, instead of Bill offering concrete numbers for the rumored dismal pay-per-view totals for the Haney-Prograis event, he argued that it was a success because it had sold out the 16,000-seat Chase Center Arena in San Francisco, California.

Bill labeled Arum’s remarks about the disappointing numbers as “fake news,” which reports say the event brought in a lowly 50K PPV buys on DAZN, which is beyond horrible. In contrast, Tank Davis’ last fight against Ryan Garcia pulled in over 1 million PPV buys.

There’s talk on social media that tickets were handed out free to fans for the Haney vs. Prograis event to fill up the empty Chase Center Arena on the night. (i.e., To give the appearance of the event being a success). Comps don’t count when it comes to an event selling out, so it would be better for Bill to come clean and confess that the fight didn’t sellout.

“Now, Bob Arum, Hall of Fame promoter, the legendary man himself, just jumped out the window of the airplane at 30,000 feet to land on his head with some fake news that the people can’t use,” said Bill Haney on social media, reacting to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum reporting that the December 9th Devin Haney vs. Regis Prograis event on DAZN PPV bringing in “disappointing” numbers in buys.

“Bob is not privy to any numbers. So to describe our [Haney – Prograis] fight as a disappointment is disheartening from old Bob. Listen, it was a sold-out [Chase Center] arena to a great group of hardcore and casual fans.”

Without the PPV numbers being released by DAZN to show whether the Haney vs. Prograis fight was a success, it’s useless for Bill to deny what Arum is saying about the event doing poorly on pay-per-view. Bill needs to ask DAZN to release the numbers if feels that Arum doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

“Don’t let Bob and his narratives be one more roadblock in front of the best fight [Gervonta Davis vs. Devin Haney] in boxing. There’s no place for Tank to hide and run. No more narratives can be created. The times up. It’s now,” said Bill Haney.
