Boxing results: “Super Bad” Estrada Defeats Leonela Yudica!

By Ken Hissner: At the Palm Casino Resort, Pearl Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada, Friday over ESPN+ Bob Arum (Top Rank) presents in the Main Event former WBO World Light Flyweight champion and current WBA and WBC Minimum world champion Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada of East L.A., California defended her titles defeating the former IBF Light Flyweight champion and current WBC Silver Light Flyweight champion Leonela Yudica of Argentina over 10 action rounds.

In the Main Event WBA and WBC Minimum champ Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada, #104.4, of East L.A., CA, 25-9 (9), defeated former IBF Light Fly champ and current WBC Silver Light Fly champ Leonela Yudica, 19-2-3-1nc (1), #103.7, of Chimbas, San Juan, ARG, over 10×2 action rounds.

In the first rounds first minute Yudica did well but in the final minute Estrada turned southpaw and dominated the rest of the round. In the second round Yudica came back well to outwork Estrada in a close round. In the third round Yudica started off well again before Estrada took over in the final minute taking the round.

In the fourth round Yudica countered well against the aggressive Estrada edging out the round. In the fifth round Estrada had Yudica backed into a corner for the most part. In the seventh round Estrada switching from orthodox to southpaw outworked Yudica who had a moment landing a right on the chin of Estrada after a minute but got countered.

In the eighth round Yudica came back well with countering rights to the chin against the oncoming Estrada who had a bruise under her left eye at the end. In the ninth round Estrada outworked Yudica. In the tenth and final round the champion Estrada switching from southpaw to orthodox and back to southpaw finished showing her champion form. Referee was Allen Huggins.

Scores were 97-93 by all judges and KH.

In the co-feature Super Light champ Andres Cortes, 20-0 (11), #130, of Las Vegas, NV, stopped Xavier Martinez, 18-2 (12), #129.7 of Sacramento, CA, after seven rounds of a scheduled 10 rounds, for the vacant WBC USA Silver title.

In the first round Cortes outworked Martinez knocking him off balance in the final seconds with a left hook to the chin. In the second and third rounds Martinez came back well outworking Cortes. In the fourth round Cortes came back well enough to take a close round.

In the fifth round overhand rights from Cortes caused swelling around the left eye of Martinez in a close round. In the sixth rounds first minute a right from Cortes opened a cut on the swelling below the left eye of Martinez but Martinez did enough to win the round. At the end of, the round the trainer of Martinez Robert Garcia called a halt due to the cut. Referee was Tony Weeks.

After seven rounds Cortes was up 68-65 and 68-66 with Martinez up 67-66 as did KH have it.

Super Feather Abraham “El Super” Nova, 23-1 (16), #130.8, of PR and Albany, NY, knocked out former IBF Super Bantam champ and Olympian Jonathan “Momo” Romero, 35-2 (19), #130.8, of Cali, COL, and Henderson, NV, at 2:47 of the third round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the second round a right from Nova drove Romero into the ropes but Referee Allen Huggins didn’t call a knockdown. Romero came fighting back until the final twenty seconds when a right uppercut from Nova dropped him for an 8-count from Referee Huggins. Romero managed to get to the bell.

In the third round both were landing punches when Nova landed a right of a Romero jab on the chin and down went Romero face first for the count. Nova’s mascot Super Nova did a dance throwing punches at the end.

Super Fly Olympian Rohan “El Rayo” Polanco, 10-0 (6), #142.9, of Santo Domingo, DR, stopped Cesar “Rainman” Francis, 12-2 (7), #141.8, of San Miguelito, PAN, and Brooklyn, NY, at 1:05 of the fifth round of a scheduled 8 rounds.

In the first three rounds Polanco had a slight edge. In the fourth round a combination from Polanco dropped Francis for an 8-count from Referee Robert Hoyle in the final 15 seconds.

In the fifth round Polanco landed a pair of rights then a left and a final right on the head and down went Francis for an 8-count from Referee Hoyle. Upon rising Francis kept looking to his corner when Referee Hoyle kept asking if he was okay then waved it off.

Light 2016 Olympian Carlos “Karlos” Balderas, 14-2 (12), #135.9, of Santa Maria, CA, lost a majority decision to Nahir “Woo” Albright, 15-3 (7), #134.1, of Sicklersville, NJ, over 8 rounds.

In the first round Albright dominated with a jab until the final seconds he landed a right to the chin of Balderas who countered with a left to the chin of Albright. In the second and third rounds Albright outworked Balderas getting off first. In the fourth round Balderas came back well enough to take the round by a slight margin.

In the fifth round Albright came back well to dominate the round keeping Balderas at bay with a two handed attack. In the sixth round Balderas hurt Albright midway with a right but Albright came back well enough to outland him taking another round.

In the seventh round Albright’s left eyebrow was cut halfway through yet he outworked Balderas taking the round. In the eighth and final round Albright dominated Balderas who seemed to tire. Referee was Kenny Baylis.

Scores were 76-76, 77-75 twice and 79-73 KH.

Light Charley Sheehy, 7-0 (5), #134.5, of Brisbane, CA, stopped Kaylyn “Black Eyes” Alfred, 4-5-2 (0), #133.4, of Lafayette, LA, at 0:31 of the third round of a scheduled 6 rounds.

In the second rounds final minute Sheehy hurt Alfred with a right to the body. Within seconds in the third round Sheehy landed a left hook to the side of the head and down went Alfred for an 8-count from Referee Robert Hoyle. Upon rising he was in no condition to continue.

Light Heavy Dante Benjamin, Jr., 7-0-1 (5), #170, of Cleveland, OH, ended in a majority draw with William “The Kid” Langston, 8-3-1 (5), #172, of Kenosha, WI, over 6 rounds.

In the second rounds final twenty seconds Benjamin rocked Langston with a right on the chin. Benjamin took the third straight round all close rounds.

In the fourth rounds ending first minute Benjamin rocked Langston with a right on the chin. At the end of the fifth rounds first minute and with a minute remaining in the round Langston hurt Benjamin with rights to the body. In the sixth and final round Langston drew blood from the nose of Benjamin. Referee was Tony Weeks.

Scores were 58-56 Langston, 57-57 twice as did KH.

Super Bantam southpaw Sabaru Murata, 7-0 (7), #121 ½, of Tokyo, JAP, stopped Juan Centeno, 8-9-3 (1), #123 ¼, of Managua, NIC, after 3 rounds of a scheduled 6 rounds.

In the second round after a minute southpaw Murata landed a left uppercut on the chin of Centeno causing a delayed knockdown for an 8-count from Referee Raul Caiz, Jr. Centeno came back well the rest of the round. In the third round Murata took a close round. Centeno refused to come out for the third round.

Super Light Jaylan Philipps, 1-2-3 (1), #139 ½, of Ebro, FL, Emond Driver, 1-1 (1), #142, of Indianapolis, IND, 4 rounds.
