Boxing Results: Peter McGrail Defeats Marc Leach!

At Exhibition Centre, Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, Saturday, promoter Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) presented in the Main Event, former WBA Continental Super Bantamweight champion Peter McGrail dominated the former British Super Bantamweight champion Marc ‘Livewire’ Leach in a pair of southpaws both suffering cuts at the end.

In the Main Event former WBA Cont’l Super Bantam champ southpaw Peter McGrail, 9-1 (5), #121¾, of Liverpool, Merseyside, UK, defeated former British champ southpaw Marc ‘Livewire’ Leach, 18-4-1 (4), #121¼, of Salford, Lancashire, UK, over 10 rounds.

In the first three rounds both southpaws, the aggressor McGrail had an edge. In the fourth round, due to a clash of heads, Leach suffered a small cut on his right eyelid and a bruise under the eye.

In the seventh round, McGrail continued out-landing a game Leach. In the tenth and final round McGrail continued outworking Leach. He suffered a cut over and on his right eyebrow. Referee Marcus McDonnell.

Scores were 100-90 twice and 99-91 as did KH.

Super Welterweight southpaw Junaid ‘Star Boy’ Bostan, 9-0 (7), #153½, of Rotherham, Yorkshire, UK, stopped Jack ‘Ginger’ Martin, 9-2 (4), #152, of Southminster, Essex, UK, at 0:49 of the eighth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

At the first rounds halfway point Bostan rocked Martin with a right on the chin easily taking the round. In the second round Bostan controlled until the final seconds when Martin landed his best punch a right on the chin. In the fourth round Bostan rocked Martin on several occasions.

In the fifth round, Martin had his best round with Bostan showboating and got caught with a right hand on the chin in the final seconds.

In the eighth round, from orthodox, Bostan landed a left uppercut to the chin, and down went Martin for the count from referee Marcus McDonnell. He won the Commonwealth Silver title.

2020 Olympic Silver Medalist Beatriz ‘The Beast’ Ferreira, 5-0 (3), #134¼, of Sao Paulo, BRZ, won a technical decision over South American champ Yanina del Lescano, 14-4 (4), #124½, of Concordia, Entre Rios, ARG, at 1:49 of the sixth round of a scheduled 10×2 rounds, for the vacant IBF World Lightweight title.

In the first three rounds, it was close, with the taller Lescano having a good second round, losing the other two. In the fourth round, Ferreira, switching from orthodox to southpaw, continued forcing the action.

In the fifth round Lescano suffered a cut on her left eyebrow that was ruled from a clash of heads. In the sixth round a right from Ferreira on the cut caused Referee Howard Foster to wisely call a halt.

Scores 59-55 twice and 58-55.

Featherweight Joe McGrail, 10-0 (5), #126½, of Liverpool, UK, edged out Ryan ‘The Lion’ Walker, 12-7 (3), #125¾, of Newham, London, UK, over 8 rounds.

In the first four rounds, it was competitive, with McGrail holding a close lead. In the fifth and sixth rounds, it was competitive, with Walker matching McGrail punch for punch.

In the seventh round Walker had a good round landing a lead right on the chin knocking the head of McGrail back in a close match. In the eighth and final round both had their moments.

Referee Steve Gray scored 77-75.

Six-time National champion Flyweight Maisey Rose Courtney, 6-0 (0), #113¼, of London, UK, defeated Giuseppina Di Stefano, 7-3-1 (1), #114¼, of Rivalta, Piemonte, IT, over 8×2 rounds.

In the first four rounds, Courtney forced the action. In the final four rounds, it was close, with Courtney pulling out the win.

Middleweight Steve ‘Stevo’ Clarke, 3-0 (1), #161¼, of Liverpool, UK, defeated Artjom Spatar, 4-8-1 (1), #160¼, of Narva, EST, over 4 rounds.

In the first round Clarke had an edge while Spatar landed the final combination to the chin. In the second and third rounds, Clarke came back better to take the rounds. In the fourth and final round, Clarke suffered a small cut on the left eyebrow while controlling the round, having Spatar in trouble at the end.

Referee Steve Gray scored 40-36.

Super Flyweight Hamza Uddin, 1-0 (1), #115¼, of Walsall, West Midlands, UK, stopped Santiago San Eusebio, 3-8-2 (2), #115, of Lyon, Rhone, FR, at 1:00 of the third round of a scheduled 4 rounds.

In the third round, Uddin dropped San Eusebio with a left on the chin for an 8-count from Referee Howard Foster. Upon rising Foster saw enough calling a halt.

Lightweight “Pretty Boy” Frankie Stringer, 7-0 (0), #136¼, of Andalucia, SP, Liverpool, UK, easily defeated Jonatas ‘The Marajoara Monster’ Gomes de Oliveira, 6-8 (5), #133½, of Muana, Para, BRZ, over 6 rounds.

In the first three rounds Stringer used an effective jab while Oliveira kept coming forward. Half a minute left in the fourth round Stringer rocked Oliveira with a right on the chin.

In the sixth and final round’s final minute, Stringer rocked Oliveira with a left hook on the chin. He dominated the fight.

Referee Howard Foster scored 60-54 as did KH.
