By Vince D’Writer: In an exhibition bout that took place on Sunday June 11th at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida, live on Zeus PPV, an in-ring brawl broke out after referee Kenny Bayless decided to stop the match between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr and John Gotti III.

Prior to the bout, the grandson of the late crime boss John Gotti, MMA fighter/Boxer John Gotti III spoke about how he idolized Floyd Mayweather when he was growing up. He followed up that statement by saying he will have bad intentions when he faces Mayweather inside the squared circle on June 11th.

Gotti III: “Punk b**** Floyd, we are enemies for life. Bum never put me down or stopped me it was a DQ for no reason.”

Normally when participating in an exhibition bout, Mayweather allows his opponent to choose the level of intensity. For example, if his opponent decides to come out in light sparring mode, then Mayweather will follow suit, but if his opponent decides to come out aggressive and turn the exhibition into a fight, then Mayweather will go with the flow.

The boxing legend switched up his routine against Gotti as he chose to start the exhibition bout in fight mode. Mayweather came out changing levels with the jab, and firing hard shots to the body. Late in the opening round, Mayweather pinned Gotti against the ropes, and hit him with a flurry of shots.

In round 2 Mayweather was moving around while talking to the crowd. Once he set his feet, he closed the round out by landing a hard right hand to the body of his opponent. John Gotti was trying to land a punch, but he was forced to spend the majority of his time on defense.

In the fourth round Mayweather continued to fight off the front foot as he forced John Gotti against the ropes, and Mayweather proceeded to hit him with a right to the body, followed by an uppercut, and he ended the sequence with a chopping overhand right. Mayweather closed out the round by smiling, talking to Gotti, and tagging him with the jab.

After John Gotti spent most of the fifth round trash talking, Kenny Bayless walked over to Gotti’s corner in-between rounds to warn Gotti about the talking as he stated he will stop the fight if the talking continues.

As the two fighters were trash talking while tangled up in an extended clinch in the 6th round, referee Kenny Bayless put a halt to the contest. Once Bayless stopped the fight, Gotti maneuvered around the referee and tried to attack Mayweather, but he got clipped with an overhand right.

Members of Floyd Mayweather’s security team, and people who are affiliated with John Gotti stormed the ring. After Mayweather exited the ring, a brawl broke out between the two entourages.

Once the situation deescalated, referee Kenny Bayless was having a conversation with former world boxing champion Antonio Tarver, and he explained to Tarver how he warned both fighters about his low tolerance for trash talking. Bayless went on to explain to Tarver that another reason he stopped the fight was because of the tone of the trash talking .

Despite the extracurricular, Floyd “Money” Mayweather got away with another easy legalized bank robbery. Judging by how sharp Mayweather looked inside the ring, fans can expect another legalized heist in the near future.
