Jose Jr. was asked about his thoughts on the recent run-in the former two-time WBC super-middleweight champion Benavidez (25-0, 22 KOs) had with Jermall during the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas fight on April 16th. He says if he had been there, it would have been a different story.

“I wasn’t there, but if I was there, he wouldn’t have been talking like that,” said Jose Jr about Benavidez almost getting into it with Jermall Charlo during the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas fight on April 16th at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

“Let me see you and run into you in person. I’m not my brother. I’ll beat both of their a****,” said Jose Jr Benavidez to Fighthype about his belief that he’d beat Jermell & Jermall Charlo.

“All they do is talk. They’re [Charlo brothers] good fighters, but all they do is talk. When my brother went up and pressed him [Jermall], nothing happened until the boys came in. If they’re really about it, do it right then and there.

At this point, Jermall has shown no interest in coming up to 168 to take on David Benavidez. Charlo has a good thing going making easy money on Showtime against lesser opposition. He’s not going to wreck the good thing he’s got going by fighting Benavidez.

It doesn’t matter what they do, try to box or whatever. My brother is too big,” said Jose Sr. about David Benavidez being too big for the Charlo twins. “He’s a big 168-pounder.

“He has the speed and the power, and he can do whatever he wants in the ring. He’s a genius in the ring, and he knows what he’s doing. My brother would stop him [Jermall].

“He’d stop him in eight rounds, even though my brother is a slow starter. I feel my brother has the power, the motivation, and everything to take it, to win, and he’s young,” said Jose Jr. about Benavidez.

“My brother is dominant every time he fights. He’s had a great training camp; he’s strong, he’s ready, and he came underweight today, and he’s ready to go,” said Jose Jr. about David Benavidez’s fight this Saturday night against David Lemieux.

“Lemieux is a good fighter, but he’s too small for my brother. My brother is a big 168-pounder, and he has that power. It’s going to be a good night for my brother.

“Whether he goes inside, whatever he tries to do, my brother has a game plan for everything. My brother can fight inside, and my brother can outbox him. He has the speed, and he has the power. Whatever they want to try with him, he knows what to do.
