Boxing Results: Kid Galahad Stopped by Kiko “La Sensacion” Martinez in UK!

By Ken Hissner: At Sheffield Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK, Saturday, over DAZN, Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing), presented in the Main Event IBF World Featherweight champion Kid Galahad, of the UK, who was stopped by former IBF Super Bantamweight champion Kiko “La Sensacion” Martinez, of Spain, in six rounds.

Earlier, WBC and IBO World Female champion Terri Harper of the UK was stopped by Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner of the USA in four rounds.

In the Main Event IBF World Featherweight champion Kid Galahad, 28-2 (17), #125 ¼, of Qatar and Sheffield, UK, was stopped by former IBF Super Bantamweight champ Kiko “La Sensacion” Martinez, 43-10-2 (30), #125 ¼, of Alicante, Comuidad Valenciana, SP, at 0:06 of the sixth round of a scheduled 12 rounds.

In the first two rounds, Galahad switched from orthodox to southpaw and back, taking both rounds. In the third round, Martinez was cut over the right eye and, inside the final minute, stunned Martinez with a lead left on the chin. In the fourth, Martinez seemed to take his first round landing lead lefts to the chin when Galahad was southpaw.

In the fifth round from southpaw, Galahad was knocked down in the final twenty seconds by an overhand right from Martinez but beating the count of referee Steve Gray as the bell sounded. In the sixth round, the aggressive Martinez went right after Galahad landing his first punch, a lead right on the chin, and down went Galahad for the second time in the fight on his back with referee Gray waving it off immediately!

In the co-feature EBU European Cruiserweight champion Chris-Billam “The Gentleman” Smith, 14-1 (10), #199, of Bournemouth, Dorset, UK, defeated Dylan Bregeon, 11-2-1 (3), #197 ½, of Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, FR, over 12 rounds.

In the first six rounds, it was all infighting, and in the sixth, Bregeon was bleeding from the nose. In the ninth round, Smith was cut over the left eye. Over the last three rounds, it was Smith chasing down Bregeon.

Scores were 120-109 and 119-109 twice.

WBC and IBO World Female Super Featherweight champion Teri Harper, 11-1-1 (6), #129 ¼, of Denaby Main, Yorkshire, UK, was stopped losing her titles to Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner, 11-1 (7), #129 ½, of Bingham Farms, MI, USA, at 0:23 of the fourth of a scheduled ten rounds.

Baumgardner controlled the first two rounds. In the third round, Harper’s right cheekbone was swelling. In the fourth round, a chopping right from Baumgardner on the chin of Harper spun her around out on her feet, looking as if she was falling with Baumgardner landing a left to the head when the referee stepped in, grabbing her and waving the fight off.

James “The Young Lion” Flint, 9-1-1 (2), #145 ½, of Doncaster, Yorkshire, UK, lost to southpaw Dom “Hurricane” Hunt, 8-0 (1), #145 ¼, of Wakefield, Yorkshire, UK, for the BBBofC Central Area Super Lightweight title, over ten rounds.

The score was 98-93 by referee Steve Gray.
