Errol Spence has 3 fights remaining at 147: Garcia, Pacquiao & Crawford

By Chris Williams: Errol Spence Jr says he’s moving up to 154 after three more fights at 147 against Danny Garcia, Manny Pacquiao, and Terence Crawford.

Spence has a good chance of fighting Crawford, but it’s not looking good that he’ll get the 41-year-old Pacquiao to fight him. Manny hadn’t fought since his narrow win over Keith Thurman in July 2019, and if he does resume his career in 2021, it might be against Mikey Garcia.

Spence may have problems getting Pacquiao to face him

There doesn’t appear to be any interest in Pacquiao’s part to take a tough fight against a young lion like Spence.

Spence’s good alternative option would be to fight the winner of the light-welterweight unification match between Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez.

If Top Rank promoter Bob Arum allows Spence to face the winner, it would be a huge fight. Also, Teofimo Lopez would be an excellent match for Spence once he moves up in weight.

Spence (26-0, 21 KOs) states that he didn’t include WBA/WBC welterweight champion Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman on his list. Errol had to make that clear, seeing that Thurman recently said he’d be fighting Spence in 2021.

Spence is getting ready for his much-anticipated fight against Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia (36-2, 21 KOs) on December 5th on Fox Sports pay-per-view at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Before Spence’s car crash last year in October, there wasn’t a ton of interest from boxing fans seeing him fight Garcia. Most people viewed the contest as a mismatch in favor of Spence. But after the horrible car crash that Spence.

Thurman not on Spence’s list

“I guess I’m moving up or going down, one of the two because that s*** ain’t happening,” said Spence to Brian Custer about him not having any interest in facing Keith. “F*** Keith Thurman!”

Spence had written Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs) off permanently because he was ignored when he held world titles from 2015 to 2018. Thurman chose to fight other contenders rather than give Spence a title shot, and now that he’s a world champion, he’s going to give him the same treatment.

Thurman is now talking about facing WBA secondary welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas in 2021.

Spence wants Canelo Alvarez fight

“Of course, Danny (Garcia), not looking over him at all, he’s at the top of my list. Danny, Manny Pacquiao, Terrence Crawford, and then I’m going up,” said Spence.

“That would be a big fight; I don’t know when that fight would happen. And I mean, it’s up to the guys in the suits, Al (Haymon) and all of them. I would definitely take that fight.”

There would be a lot of money for Spence to make if he could get a fight against Canelo Alvarez. But he would have to move up to 160 or possibly 168 to face Canelo because there’s no chance that the Mexican star can come down to 154 at this point in his career.
