Liam Walsh is ready to remind everyone exactly what he is capable of when he makes his long-awaited return on #MTKFightNight’s packed event at the Brentwood Centre live on iFL TV this evening.

Former British and Commonwealth champion Walsh (21-1, 14 KOs) has his first fight in two years when he takes on experienced Reynaldo Cajina, and he’s promising a dominant display.

Walsh said: “I’m fresh and rejuvenated and that excites me. I think I’m going to fight more aggressive too because I’m a risk taker in life in general, and I never like to play it cautious.

“It’s going to be more entertaining for the fans and the response from them has been immense. I’ve had a lot of messages from people who are buzzing that I’ve signed with MTK Global, and that’s really nice and humbling.

“My mentality over the year has been that I’ve always got my back to the wall, but it’s hard to have that mentality due to the amount of support I’ve had, and I’m buzzing to be fighting again.

“I hope I can reward the fans by performing to the best of my ability so they have a good night and enjoy themselves. I’m more than confident that I’ve got some big nights left in me.”

Liam Walsh has been pushing himself to the limit during his training camp in Tenerife as he gets set to return to the ring during #MTKFightNight’s event at the Brentwood Centre live on iFL TV on Saturday.

Former British and Commonwealth champion Walsh (21-1, 14 KOs) is back in action after two years out, and he is ready to show everybody just how much hard work he has been putting in during the build-up.

Walsh said: “I’ve been out in Tenerife training with my brother Ryan and it has been brilliant. The numbers I’ve been posted are all up there with where they were two years ago for the Gervonta Davis fight, so I’m really excited to be back.

“It might only be an eight-rounder but I’ve been training as if it’s a title fight. That’s the way me and Ryan have always done it, even when it was the four-round days we have always been training like maniacs. It always worked before and we’ll stick to it.

“This is my first fight with MTK Global and I’m thankful to them for making an effort with me and Ryan and making us feel welcome. I’m going to pay them back with some big fights.

“They’ve treated us brilliant so far and I’m sure it will continue. Hopefully we’ll have some good years together, and I have no doubt that MTK Global will continue to take over in the future.”

Liam Walsh is ecstatic to be back after a difficult period over the last two years which made him think he’d never step foot in the ring again.

Ex-British and Commonwealth champion Walsh (21-1, 14 KOs) fights for the first time since May 2017 when he returns on the #MTKFightNight event at the Brentwood Centre this Saturday live on iFL TV.

The lack of opportunities in recent times meant the 32-year-old was close to starting a new job away from boxing, but he is now glad to put all of that frustration behind him after signing with MTK Global.

Walsh said: “I didn’t think I would get an opportunity like this again and didn’t see how it could work for me and everyone. It’s been difficult after two years away and at one stage I started to seek jobs elsewhere.

“Not being able to do what I love has been difficult and I was worried it wouldn’t happen again. There were positives like getting to watch my children grow up and spending a lot more time with my brother Michael, but now I’m buzzing to be back in the ring.

“It’s been good working towards an actual date too. I’ve always been training over the past two years, but when you get an actual date set in stone then it’s a different type of training. The intensity steps up and it’s a great feeling in the boxing gym.

Along with Walsh, there are plenty of other exciting stars on the bill this weekend, including Danny Dignum, Shaquille Day, Liam Conroy, DP Carr, Harlem Eubank and many more.

Liam Walsh will kick off his MTK Global career on a newly-announced #MTKFightNight in Brentwood on May 11 – live and exclusive on iFL TV.

After a jam-packed crowd at the Brentwood Centre saw Walsh’s new team-mates Michael McKinson and Mikey Sakyi defend titles in style on March 9, the Norfolk super-featherweight is back in the wake of his world title shot.

Former British, Commonwealth and European champion Walsh, who was last seen suffering the sole defeat of his career to American world champion Gervonta Davis, recently signed for MTK Global along with his brother Ryan.

Joining Walsh on another busy bill in Essex are a host of stars looking to steal the limelight.

The powerful super-lightweight Daniel Egbunike (4-0-KO3), who scored a second-round stoppage win at the venue last time out, is handed a Southern Area title eliminator against Jamie Carley.

Former world kickboxing champion Serginio ‘Gino’ Kanters faces former Commonwealth title challenger Nicky Jenman, while undefeated Martin McDonagh faces a dangerous test in Scott Moises.

There’s a swift return for former Team GB star Danny Dignum (10-0) as he looks to tee up a title shot, while another former world kickboxing king Jamie Whelan is set to make his eagerly-anticipated professional debut.

Shaquille Day, Danny Carr, Sam Gilley, Alex Bellingham and Louie Greene complete a lengthy bill with further announcements still possible.

MTK Global is delighted to announce the signing of brothers Liam and Ryan Walsh, who fight under renowned trainer Graham Everett.

Liam and Ryan have operated at an extremely high level for a number of years, with Liam a British and Commonwealth super-featherweight champion plus a world title challenger, while Ryan is the current British featherweight champion.

The duo will now look to take the next steps in their careers after linking up with MTK Global, and they’re very excited about the future.

Liam said: “I’m delighted and it’s given me a big lift. I’m really happy to be working with MTK and I feel like I’ve signed my contract for my professional debut all over again.

“Me and Ryan went to Marbella a few years ago for some training over there and it was a top vibe with good people so we really enjoyed it. They made us feel really welcome and ever since then we’ve known just how great MTK are, and now they’ve grown into a huge brand.

“I’m buzzing to have the opportunity to be fighting regularly again and being in big fights. I’m only 32 and I don’t have any miles on the clock, so I still have plenty left to offer.

“One of the reasons I haven’t fought over the last couple of years was because I didn’t want to go back to square one and have meaningless fights, but now there’s nobody more capable of putting me in big fights than MTK.

“I’d like to thank MTK for putting faith in me and showing belief. I can assure them that they’ll get my full dedication and I’ll be giving my best as always.”

Ryan added: “I’m over the moon. I’ve always said that no matter how hard you work in the gym, you need someone on the outside of the ropes working just as hard as you, and now we’re aligned with MTK who are good boxing people.

“I think both myself and Liam have a good five years at the top still left in us, and managed right we know we are capable of anything and can be as successful as we want to be.

“The things MTK can do for you is massive, and with their backing we are going to be able to stay active which is huge. That’s something that hasn’t really happened in mine or Liam’s career before, so that’s a part of the deal which I’m really excited about.

“You only have to look at some of the boxers that MTK have been able to secure world title shots for to see how good it is to be working with them, and I can’t wait to get back in the ring with them alongside me.”

MTK Global President Bob Yalen said: “We’re delighted to bring in two brothers of proven quality in Liam and Ryan Walsh.

“Both have already established themselves as top operators and excellent prospects both at home and abroad and we believe the best is yet to come.

“We also welcome the opportunity to work with their trainer Graham Everett towards helping them realise their lofty ambitions.”
