Prediction: Pacquiao will beat Mayweather!

floyd7By TFF: This debate as to why the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao negotiations hasn’t been completed is endless and tiresome. So whose fault is it? The truth is we don’t know at this point if it’s the networks [HBO and Showtime] or team Mayweather that’s causing the stall.

I personally think it’s not Pacquiao’s fault because he’s said that he’s agreed to all of Mayweather’s conditions.

Mayweather seems to want the fight because he was the one who reignited the possibilities and the interest of this mega fight happening. Some say Mayweather may inadvertently have put his foot in his mouth when he initially commented on him wanting the fight and then later saying he wanted to fight him on May 2nd.

He may not have realized that the fans would not let it go this time around, and would not accept anything less than him fighting Pacquiao. We can all speculate about it, but the truth will always lie neither here nor there. This goes for all things. So let’s go with what we do know; Mayweather Jr probably didn’t want Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum involved.

It’s been said that Mayweather doesn’t care for Arum too much. Why? We’ll never really know but it runs deep and Floyd has made no secret of it. Floyd know that Arum will be involved in the promotion of the fight. We are told that the fight will be split 60/40 in Mayweather’s favor in terms of the money; 40% goes to Pacquiao, Arum, trainer Freddie Roach and his team. We don’t know what the pay-per-view split will be; Certainly in Mayweather’s favor no doubt.

We are told that HBO and Showtime have yet to arrive to an agreement on some key points of the contract, and that’s fine. I can’t imagine HBO and Showtime having any major issues that they can’t sort out when there is more than 4 to 5 times the revenue for this fight than there was for the Lennox Lewis / Mike Tyson fight that was co-promoted on June 8, 2002. HBO and Showtime are businesses and they are interested in the money they will make.

Maybe Floyd wanted his contract to run out with Showtime and be the sole promotional company for the fight at which point he would of made even more money than he is making now. But I see Mayweather Jr being the problem here. This is just an opinion but I base it from the fact that at no point have we heard Mayweather Jr has signed the contract. If you understand what the word contract means then you can see why when Floyd say’s ‘what contract?’ and ‘what has he agreed to?’ What he is really saying is that a contract doesn’t exist until both parties have signed it, and that’s a clever way of saying it doesn’t exist.

Even if Pacquiao’s side has signed off on all conditions that were place on Pacquiao, which included money split, Mayweather more than likely received a contract signed from Pacquiao’s side agreeing to whatever they discussed.

Floyd can validly claim there is no contract in existence because he has not signed it. If it doesn’t exist that would mean Pacquiao is a flat out liar and I highly doubt that. Anyone can twist some aspects of the truth, but I feel Pacquiao was presented with a contract that his lawyers read and he signed it.

In a recent video that emerged, Mayweather praised Pacquiao about his career and said that they need to make the fight happen. Unfortunately, boxing fans don’t get the chance to hear the entire interview.

I think that if Mayweather is somehow trying to get a psychological advantage over Pacquiao before the fight takes place. I believe Mayweather is wasting his time. Pacquiao feels wholeheartedly that God is in his corner whether he wins or loses it just doesn’t matter is. He is there because God has put him in this fight to inspire people and again, whether he wins or loses it is a secondary accomplishment. So I don’t see Mayweather getting any psychological o a Psych edge over Pacquiao.

It’s hard to imagine that this fight wouldn’t be competitive. I can almost see Pacquiao chasing down Mayweather all night, with Floyd covering and taking pot shots at Manny. It would be hard to think it goes down any different than this. People who actually thing that Mayweather will KO Pacquiao are just shooting for the stars. Pacquiao got knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez due to several factors; Pacquiao rushed in too quickly into a counter right hand from Marquez, effectively doubling the punch’s power. Marquez and Mayweather are two very different counter punchers. In fact, they are night and day.

Marquez counters while his opponents are swinging for a more risky yet potentially devastating counter. Mayweather uses his reach, covers up, doesn’t spend a lot of energy, and counter’s at the end of his opponent’s attack attempt. None the less, it’s very effective but he rarely throws with enough force to produce a knockout. For his part, Pacquiao doesn’t visibly tire. He throws punches for 12 rounds and a lot of the shots are fast.

I suspect that the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will be similar to Mayweather’s first fight against Marcos Maidana. The main difference is that Pacquiao will likely hit Mayweather a lot more than Maidana did. At the same time, I see Mayweather landing fewer shots against Pacquiao than he did against Maidana due to Pacquiao’s superb footwork and speed.

I predict 12 round unanimous decision win for Pacquiao. However, if Floyd gets desperate in the later rounds and tries to truly engage Pacquiao, then I see Mayweather getting knocked out by Pacquiao
