By Antonia Bufalino: Recently, there was a report of a 40 million dollar offer Al Haymon made to Miguel Cotto for a May 2nd fight against undefeated fighter, Floyd Mayweather. Many believed the news after Cotto’s advisor, Peñagarícano, made the statement, “A rematch with Mayweather has certainly not been ruled out via thesportspress.com.

The past few weeks, many had Mayweather-Pacquiao and a Cotto-Canelo fights on their Christmas Wishlist for the 2015 boxing year. Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, have been positive that Miguel Cotto will soon sign his end of the contract. Then, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have been even more vocal, claiming they are only focused on each other for their next fight.

Now it appears Floyd Mayweather may be trying sneak under the table and steal Cotto, leaving Alvarez and Pacquiao angry and alone. Is it true?

“Of course, I can address that. No, the information is false. We did not get offered $40 million to fight Floyd, said Cotto’s personal adviser Gaby Penagaricano to RingTV.com.

Not only will Canelo be waiting for the announcement for his fight with Cotto, but Pacquaio will also be expecting big news when it comes to Mayweather. Pacquiao told ABS-CBN news on Sunday that he will be updated on negotiations by January 1st and added, “Maybe, after the New Year, we will know [if he will fight me].”

The first few weeks of January will surely be an exciting one when it comes to boxing. Hopefully, negotiations go well and the fans can hear positive announcements for the fights they’ve been waiting years for.
