Broner wants rematch with Maidana after Emmanuel Taylor fight

broner5By Allan Fox: Former three division world champion Adrien Broner (28-1, 22 KOs) will be looking to give boxing fans an impressive show on September 6th in his fight against #13 WBC Emmanuel Taylor (18-2, 12 KOs) at the U.S. Bank Arena, in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

Broner says he wants to fight Marcos Maidana after Taylor, and after Floyd Mayweather Jr deals Maidana another loss in their rematch on September 13th. Broner says he hasn’t forgotten about his loss to Maidana, and he wants to still avenge it. Broner was knocked down twice by Maidana in the loss, and he lost a lot of fans in the process.

Broner needs to put in a good performance in his fight against Taylor because he’s not really shined for at least year and a half since his 5th round TKO win over lightweight Gavin Rees in February 2013.

“He’s a worthy opponent. He’s coming off his best win I think,” Broner said about Taylor to esnewsporting.com. “That’s the only time I’ve ever heard of him. After this fight with Taylor and I handle my business, and after Floyd handles his business, hopefully we can get a rematch [against Maidana.”

Taylor is the type of fighter who can do a lot of the same things that Broner can do. He’s got the same type of hand speed, and he likes to throw pot shots the way that Broner does. This isn’t going to be an easy fight for Broner, because Taylor has the kind of talent that will give Broner problems. Taylor is coming off of a win over a fighter with more power and hand speed than Broner in Karim Mayfield last July. Taylor looked good in that fight and was able to neutralize Mayfield’s power advantage with his defense.

“I’m going to put on a show like I always do and I’m ready right now,” Broner said.

Broner moved up in weight two divisions after that fight and captured the WBA welterweight title by a controversial decision over Paulie Malignaggi in June of 2013. Broner lost his WBA title in his first defense against Marcos Maidana last December.
