Broner: Lucas Matthysse is easy money; I’d make it look easy

Broner said to thaboxingvoice, “That’s easy money. I’m not worried about no Lucas Matthysse; easy money. He would be tough, but I’d make it look easy.”

It would be an interesting if Golden Boy Promotions were to make that fight, but just by looking at the kinds of guys that Broner’s been facing with them, it doesn’t seem probable that they’d let him fight against Matthysse. That would be too big of a jump up in class for Broner, and Golden Boy probably knows this.

Matthysse has had some tough opponents in Lamont Peterson, Devon Alexander. Ajose Olusegun and Zab Judah, but Broner hasn’t been in with anything close to that level of opposition yet. That’s not going to change on Saturday night because Broner’s opponent Paulie Malignaggi isn’t on the same level as Peterson, Judah, Alexander, and Olusegune.

Broner says he doesn’t know who he’ll be facing in the future after the Malignaggi fight because Golden Boy picks out all of his fights. But we’re hearing that it’s going to be 41-year-old Shane Mosley.

If that turns out to be the case then it’ll be really disappointing because boxing fans would prefer to see Broner fight the likes of Keith Thurman or Marcos Maidana in terms of welterweights. They’d alao like to see Broner faces Matthysse and Danny Garcia at 135.

Matthysse would be a very tough fight for Broner because he hits really hard with both hands and he’d pour on for 12 rounds. If Broner had problems beating the likes of Daniel Ponce De Leon then you can imagine what it would be like for Broner to face someone even bigger and stronger like Matthysse.
