Image: Pacquiao still could fight on November 10th, says ArumBy Chris Williams: Bob Arum of Top Rank hasn’t given up on the idea of having Manny Pacquiao fight on November 10th. He says it’s still possible, because Pacquiao doesn’t have to be in the Philippines during that time for the election, according to 8countnews.com. Pacquiao recently moved his November 10th fight to December 1st due to his scheduling conflicts.

However, Arum still kept the November 10th date, and it was thought that he’d fill it with another semi-important fight, like a match-up between the Pacquiao rejects that aren’t selected for his next fight. But Arum is now saying that Pacquiao can still fight on November 10th and he wants him to fight on that date rather than December 1st.

Arum told 8countnews.com “The election commission just ruled in the Philippines that Manny can authorize somebody to file for him.”

There it is. If Pacquiao still doesn’t want to fight on November 10th then he’s going to have to come up with another excuse because Arum seems to be holding onto that November 10th date for him and doesn’t want to let it go. It’s unclear what’s so magical about the November 10th date from the December 1st date other than it’s a month earlier and it means that Pacquiao’s fight after that won’t be a month later.

Perhaps Arum already dumped some money into reserving a venue and doesn’t want to give it up. Whatever the case, he seems to really want Pacquiao to fight on the 10th of November for some reason.

It may not matter which date Pacquiao fights on if he doesn’t win his next fight he’s going to be in bad shape for a future fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr next year. I think the fight will still happen even if Pacquiao loses his next bout, because Arum might see that he’s got to make the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will there’s money there.

With Pacquiao losing left and right Arum will know that he’s got to put that fight together as fast as humanly possible before Pacquiao takes yet another loss and the interest in a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight dies down completely. Arum might need to cash out in a hurry with Pacquiao while there’s still the opportunity.
