Jones is going to have a three inch reach advantage and that’s probably going to be more than enough to keep Brook on the outside, harmlessly hitting air all night long.

Brook’s short arms hasn’t been a handicap for him up to this point in his career due to his opposition being so god awful in pretty much all of his fights. I can’t point to any one fighter on Brook’s resume that I could say is a good fighter. It’s just been mediocre opposition for the most part.

Brook’s limited reach hasn’t been a problem against the guys he’s been facing because there hasn’t been anyone that you could say was any kind of threat to him until now. Jones is such a big leap up for Brook that I just don’t think he’s going to be able to handle it. Brook’s arms will be reaching out to try and land his shots, but with Jones able to spear Brook from the outside all night long with his longer reach, Jones isn’t going to get dirty. In other words, he’s going to swim without getting wet.

Jones has fought the much better opposition than Brook despite being roughly the same age and having fought the same amount of years. Jones hasn’t taken the easy path, as he’s had tough opponents like Allen Conyers, Ricardo Williams Jr., Said Ouali, Jason Lehoullier, Tyrone Brunson, Mitchi Munoz, and Jesus Soto Karass.

With Brook, you can’t point to any of his opponents and say they were good fighters. Brook’s last opponent, Mathew Hatton, was more like a punching bag than a threat to Brook. He was just another one of Brook’s soft opponents that he’s faced during his thus far less than impressive career.
