Image: Pavlik: I'd beat Froch; lets do it!By Sean McDaniel: Kelly Pavlik (38-2, 33 KO’s) is the latest fighter that has stepped up and called out IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) to try and get him in the ring so that Pavlik can rekindle his career. Pavlik thinks he’ll beat Froch, and there’s no doubt it would be a good fight.

Pavlik said to esnewsreporting.com “I’ll beat him. He beat [Lucian] Bute, but he’s known for not having a good chin. Let’s do it, as long as you get HBO or Showtime, yes.”

Froch might have too much strength for Pavlik. Froch also would give Pavlik problems if he flurried on him the way that he did with Lucian Bute last Saturday night.

Pavlik has always been a jab-jab-jab, left-right combination type of fighter. He doesn’t typically throw flurries like Froch, and he might be overpowered or overwhelmed by Froch if he chooses to unload on Pavlik in a sustained manner. Pavlik has the power to cause Froch problems, but if he can’t match Froch with his combinations, Pavlik will likely be in a world of hurt against Froch.

It’s still a very good fight and hopefully Froch considers this as an option for him.

A Froch-Pavlik fight would have a good chance of being televised on either Showtime or HBO. It’s hard to see them turning the fight down. The only problem with making a fight like that would be Pavlik’s promoter. He might not want to see Pavlik take a risky fight with Froch, because Pavlik is being slowly brought back from his losses to Sergio Martinez and Bernard Hopkins in addition to his alcohol problems. His promoter wants to ultimately match Pavlik up against WBC middleweight champion Julio Cedar Chavez Jr. in a Top Rank in house fight.

Pavlik has a fight coming up on June 8th against Scott Sigmon on ESPN2. This is an easy tune-up bout for Pavlik.
