By Charles Brun: An angry-looking Carl Froch finally took to social media today to accept the challenge from Youtuber Jake Paul, as long as he defeats Tommy Fury on Sunday in their fight on DAZN PPV at the Diriyah Arena in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
The former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Froch (33-2, 24 KOs), who hasn’t fought in nine years since knocking out George Groves in the eighth round in May 2014, says he’s NOT going to fight 47-year-old former MMA champion Anderson Silva on an undercard of Jake Paul, as requested by the Youtuber as a condition for fighting him.
As such, unless Jake gives up on the requirements for the 45-year-old Froch needing to face Silva before he’d fight him, it would seem that a potential fight between them is dead in the water.
The 26-year-old former Disney star Jake Paul (6-0, 4 KOs) recently took to social media to lash out at Froch in response to his refereeing to him as a “performing clown.” Jake claimed that Froch was just mad because he made more money in the last year of his boxing career than he made in his entire 12-year professional career.
“Jake Paul has called me out on social media. Apparently, he wants to fight me,” said Carl Froch on Twitter. “Listen, in case you don’t know, my last fight was at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans.
“I wouldn’t be fighting a mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva on your undercard. I have too much respect for him and your punch when you fought him. Did that even land?
“Anyway, You’ve got a job to do against Tommy Fury. If by some miracle, you manage to beat Tommy Fury, then I’ll listen to you. I’ll have a little chat with you and see what garbage comes out of your mouth and see what you got to say. Until then, don’t talk about me in the same league as you.
Carl Froch mad because I made more in 1 year than he made his whole career. You want the payday. I get it.
