Image: Chisora: The boxing public wants the Haye-Chisora fightBy William Mackay: Dereck Chisora sees his July 14th fight against former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye as something that the boxing public wants to see badly.

The problem is the British Boxing Board of Control, the WBC and a certain segment of the boxing public are totally against the fight from happening due to Chisora & Haye not having their boxing licenses. Chisora has his license stripped from him by the BBBofC for Chisora’s fight with Haye at the Chisora-Vitali Klitschko post fight press conference.

Chisora still hasn’t gotten his license back with the BBBofC, but he’s not going to let that stop him from still fighting. They found the Luxembourg Boxing Federation to sanction the fight and that made the BBBofC not needed.

Chisora said to Boxnation “The boxing public wants it [Haye-Chisora], so why can’t we give it to them.”
The real question here is what happens after this fight? Will Chisora eventually be allowed to get his license back with the BBBofC or will he have to continue to use the Luxembourg Boxing Federation to sanction future fights of his? By taking this fight, Chisora will have burned his bridges with the World Boxing Council.

Thankfully there’s the WBA, WBO and IBF still, so Chisora should be okay as long as they don’t do the same thing that the WBC did. I don’t know if Chisora will ever be able to get his boxing license back with the BBBofC if he takes this fight. It’s possible, but they might make him wait an awful long time before they eventually do give it back to him.

But Chisora is right about the boxing public wanting to see his fight against Haye. This is could be one of the biggest fights in the UK in 2012, and it doesn’t matter whether the BBBofC or the WBC approves of the fight. It’s going to be a financial success for Frank Warren, Chisora and Haye.
