Image: Brook: Froch is going to shock people by beating ButeBy Scott Gilfoid: Welterweight contender and fellow Brit Kell Brook is under the impression that former two-time WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO’s) is going to beat IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24 KO’s) in their May 26th fight at the Nottingham Arena in Nottingham, UK.

Brook said to Sky Sports Ringside “People are going to be shocked. He’s [Froch] going to take this fight.”

People are going to be shocked alright. They’re going to be shocked at how easily Bute whips Froch in front of his own loyal, loving British fans on May 26th. That’s the only shocking I can see in this fight. Brook needs to put down that flag he’s carrying and realize that Froch doesn’t have the physical tools to beat fighter in the class of Bute. Even if Froch had the tools, which he doesn’t, I still think he’d lose because of his bad boxing fundamentals.

You see, Froch fights with his hands down by his sides and basically invites his opponents to hit him in the head. You don’t fight like that unless you’ve got blazing hand speed like some of the faster talents in the sport. Even the faster fighters eventually get smashed to bits by fighting with a low guard. Froch doesn’t have hand speed, and he makes things worse for himself by fighting with his hands dangling uselessly by his sides.

Bute is going to put a serious hurting on Froch on May 26th, and there’s not much Froch can do about it. He’s going to get whipped and whipped badly. My only hope he doesn’t get blown out in one or two rounds by Bute. This fight could end suddenly because Froch hasn’t faced any real body punchers during his career, and Bute is going to be looking to take Froch out with a hard body shot.

I think we may see that Froch can take a good head shot, but his ability to absorb hard body shots will be seriously exposed. The thing is you can’t train for that kind of thing. As hard as Bute hits, Froch is going to rolling around on the canvas agony at some point in the fight when Bute hits him in the bread basket with everything he’s got.
