McKenna (McJack): Many boxing fans and pundits are picking WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (28-0-1 NC, 12 KO’s) to pull off what would be a huge upset against World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) when they clash at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on June 9.

Undoubtedly when picking “Desert Storm” to defeat Pacquiao boxing fans are taking into account his last two performances. Last May Pacquiao scored a unanimous decision win over an over the hill former great Shane Mosley. “Pacman” scored a 3rd round knockdown over Mosley, who then ran away for the balance of the fight rather than engage Pacquaio. At one point Mosely even asked his trainer Nazim Richardson to intervene and stop the fight.

Last November Manny put in perhaps his worst performance in the last ten years when he won a highly controversial decision over WBO/WBA lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez. Most boxing fans though that Marquez was the winner in that fight.

Trainer James Grogue has offered his expert analysis on the Pacquiao – Bradley matchup. He was quoted by FIGHT SAGA saying the following:

“This is going to be a great clash because Timoty Bradley is the epitome of a fighter. He is a very dedicated, disciplined, and hard working fighter who uses intelligence in the ring to adapt and overcome whatever adversity he’s faced with.”

Grogue refers to the matchup as arguably the best 140 pound fighter in the world fighting against arguably the best pound for pound fighter in the world. He went on to say that against fighters who are less tenacious than Pacquiao, Bradley went right at them. Grogue warned that if Bradley does that against the “Pacman” he will suffer the same fate that Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito did when they faced Manny.

Grogue concedes that Bradley boxed very effectively against Lamont Peterson but was quick to point out that Peterson is not in the same league with Pacquiao.
