Image: Arreola-Molina, Williams-Ishida, Cloud-Campillo on Saturday on SHOWTIMEBy Jason Kim: This Saturday night Paul Williams (40-2, 27 KO’s) puts his career on the line against 6’1″ Nobuhiro Ishida (24-6-2, 9 KO’s) in a 12 round bout at the American Bank Center, in Corpus Christi, Texas, U.S.

Williams can’t afford to lose this fight or take any more beatings like he did in his last two fights against Sergio Martinez and Erislandy Lara. Although Williams won the fight against Lara by a 12 round majority decision, it was one of those fights that are more of a loss than a win. Williams took a beating and looked outclassed.

Ishida, 36, is an underdog in this fight but a live one due to his size his new found ability to take guys out in a real hurry. Ishida is going to really test Williams chin early in this fight and if he’s got any linger effects from his 2nd round knockout loss to Martinez in November 2010, then Ishida will be the one to reveal it.

In the main event on the card, #1 WBC ranked heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (34-2, 29 KO’s) will be facing Eric Molina (18-1, 14 KO’s) in a 12 round bout. Arreola can’t afford to lose this fight if he wants another title shot against one of the Klitschkos. It’s hard to say if Arreola will win this fight because he’s been on an extended soft diet since being schooled by Tomasz Adamek in April 2010. Arreola has won six fights since then but against marginal opposition. He’s taking a big step up in class in this fight and we could see Arreola injuring something and losing again.

Unbeaten IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud (23-0, 19 KO’s) puts his unbeaten record and International Boxing Federation title on the line against former WBA World light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo (21-3-1, 8 KO’s) in what could turn out to be a very tough fight for Cloud. Campillo has an excellent chin and he throws a lot of punches. He’s like a bigger version of Glen Johnson, who Cloud had a lot of problems beating in August 2010. This will be the fourth title defense for Cloud, who has beaten Glen Johnson, Fulgencio Zuniga and Yusaf Mack since capturing the title against Clinton Woods in August 2009.

Also on the card will be heavyweight Malik Scott facing Kendrick Releford in an eight round bout. Super middleweight Alfonso Lopez will be taking on Justin Williams in a six round bout.
