Bunce sees Chisora possibly beating Vitali on Saturday: What a pipe dream!

Image: Bunce sees Chisora possibly beating Vitali on Saturday: What a pipe dream!By Scott Gilfoid: Pretty much the entire world sees Brit Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) getting badly beaten and clowned by WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) on Saturday at the Olymiahalle in Munich, Germany.

Perhaps one of the few people in the world who are giving Chisora a chance in this fight is writer Steve Bunce, who sees deterioration in Vitali’s game. Bunce looks at Vitali’s performance against Tomasz Adamek last September and points out a situation where Vitali slipped on the canvas while trying to throw a shot as evidence that he’s losing it.

I can’t think of a worse example of Vitali losing his skills as that one. That was little more than a slip in a fight where Vitali completely dominated the Polish Adamek until eventually stopping him in the 10th round. I can see that Vitali has some of his skills in the past 10 years, but not a whole lot, and certainly not enough for a mediocre heavyweight like Chisora to take advantage of.

Chisora really doesn’t rate because he lost his last fight against Robert Helenius and also got beat by Tyson Fury. That’s all you need to know about Chisora’s chances. If someone told me that Chisora got beat by Fury, I’d say ‘Oh, okay, he’s losing on Saturday.’

You don’t stand a chance against Vitali if guys like Fury are beating you. That tells me that Chisora has been weeded out already but he’s getting the shot because he’s a good talker. That’s basically all it is. Like his fellow countryman David Haye, Chisora can talk a good game but he fails when he takes on the big boys. He failed against Helenius, he failed against Fury and he’s going to royally fail against Vitali. That’s just the way it is and the way it’s going to be.

Bunce sees Vitali as distracted due to him being busy with politics in Ukraine much of the time. I don’t see that as a problem for this fight, because this is Chisora we’re talking about and not someone good.

Bunce gives away the strategy for Chisora to beat Vitali, saying to espn.co.uk “To get close to one of the Klitschkos, and to keep clubbing away.”

That sounds like a pipe dream. I hope Bunce doesn’t put any money on the fight because he’ll be sorry he did when Vitali makes quick work of Chisora in this fight. It’s not going to go past four rounds because Vitali isn’t going to bother carrying Chisora like he usually does against fodder opposition. He’s going to slaughter him and slaughter him quick. Chisora will be able to take a flight home early to the UK after his quick exit.
