Image: Ariza thinks some of Pacquiao's sparring partners are better than BradleyBy Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach, Alex Ariza, doesn’t like the choice of opponent for Pacquiao in facing WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley in his next fight on June 9th.

Ariza told fighthype.com “How do you get motivated for Bradley? The guys who we’re sparring in the gym are better than Bradley.”

I find that hard to believe, but I’m also not surprised that Ariza is making this comment. He’s also the one that wasn’t impressed with Juan Manuel Marquez, and thought Pacquiao would deal with him with relative ease last time they fought. We saw what happened in that fight. Ariza said this about Marquez to philboxing.com before their fight last November: “I won’t be surprised if Manny knocks him [Marquez] out in the 1st round.”

I’ve seen Pacquiao’s sparring partners in the past and he’s sparring guys anywhere near the same level as Bradley. He’s sparring up and coming guys and I haven’t seen one that I feel will be a future world champion. I don’t think Pacquiao’s sparring partners will adequately prepare for what he’s about to face in the ring when he takes on Bradley, because I don’t think Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach is really helping him at this point.

Pacquiao needs a better training that can teach him new stuff instead of the old roll under bit he uses all the time to the point where he’s so damn predictable. And as far as Ariza goes, I think Pacquiao needed to dump him a long time ago because Pacquiao’s stamina looks atrocious and he’s suffering leg cramps all the time now. That tells me that Pacquiao needs to lose Ariza and just focus on good old boxing training without all the extra exercises that Ariza has been tiring him out with. So, lose Roach, lose Ariza and clear out all the hangers on that are just getting in the way during training camp. Pacquiao needs to get with Floyd Mayweather Sr. so that he can tear down his all screwed up fighting style and teach him how to properly fight.
