This is kind of a common opinion among many boxing fans, who feel that the 80-year-old Arum is playing a significant part in the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight not being made.

Martinez told boxinginsider.com “We all know the problem is Bob Arum, who has been avoiding this confrontation for years. Floyd and Manny are not afraid, but Arum wants to make as much profit as he can from Manny until the last day of his life. For the good of boxing, I hope they reach an agreement and that the inner understands that I must be next.”

Boy, I hope Martinez doesn’t hold his breath waiting for Pacquiao to fight him because that isn’t going to happen even if Martinez starves himself down to 147 to make the fight. Arum already ruled Martinez as a future opponent for Pacquiao due his belief that Martinez doesn’t bring in enough fans to make the fight worthwhile.

Don’t expect Arum to change his opinion about that. Mayweather could end up facing Martinez in the near future if he doesn’t get the fight with Pacquiao. Mayweather is into accomplishing big things and a win over Martinez would really be huge for his legacy and his current popularity. Arum is likely afraid of what could do to Pacquiao when he lands one of his huge left hands. Martinez has crushing power and Pacquiao there to be hit. Bad things could happen if Martinez were able to land even a handful of his monstrous shots on the chin of Pacquiao.
