Image: Groves: I can't see Smith making it to the endBy Scott Gilfoid: British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves (13-0, 10 KO’s) can’t even begin to entertain the idea that is experienced challenger Paul Smith (31-2, 17 KO’s) could pull off an upset and beat him next week when the two Brits meet up on November 5th at the Wembley Arena, Wembley, London, England.

It’s unclear what gave Groves the idea that he can just walk though guys like Smith. It certainly couldn’t be Groves’ controversial win over James DeGale in his last fight, because I, and a lot of other non-biased people, saw Groves losing that fight.

From my perspective, Groves is coming off of a loss and talking like he’s the guy at super middleweight instead of someone who should be looking to just get a win. Groves doesn’t seem to realize how flawed he really is and that’s sad.

DeGale won basically every exchange he had with Groves in the second half of the fight, and made him look weak during those exchanges. Smith is a bigger puncher and better pressure fighter than DeGale.

Smith doesn’t plod and doesn’t rely on his opponents to come to him the way that DeGale does. I see Smith a nightmare opponent for Groves, because he’s a lot stronger than Groves’ last opponent DeGale in areas where Groves has problems with.

Groves said this on Sky Sports Ringside “It should be very one-sided. I generally can’t see him seeing the end.”

Smith said “I know for a fact 100% I can do a job on George Groves.”
I agree with Smith. I think he can do a job on the 23-year-old Groves, and will send him down to his first defeat.
