Image: Khan: I saw a lot of mistakes from Mayweather against OrtizBy William Mackay: IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) is excited about all the mistakes he saw from Floyd Mayweather Jr. last weekend in his 4th round TKO win over WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Speaking on his social media twitter account, Khan said “Mayweather’s good bout I saw a lot of mistakes and weaknesses I’ve never seen before. Putting skills, power and Freddie’s [Roach] brain will be too much for Floyd.”

It sounds like a bedtime story Khan is telling himself because he doesn’t stand much of a chance against Mayweather unless Khan can convince him to tie one of his arms behind his back and fight like that. Even then, I can see Mayweather still beating Khan with only one arm. We’re talking different levels here.

Mayweather is an all time great with few flaws, while Khan is a fragile-chinned fighter with average power who has been carefully matched to keep him away from punchers since he was destroyed by Breidis Prescott in 2008. There’s no comparisons between Khan and Mayweather.

Here’s how one light welterweight contender Robert Guerrero summed up what he thinks of Khan in an interview at RingTV: “Amir Khan-artist. He’s a con artist. You can pull the wool over the eyes of the general public. But when you get boxing guys like me and people in boxing, it’s different.”

Floyd can and will easily beat Khan when this fight is put together for public consumption. Khan wants it, HBO wants and Mayweather will likely want it as well, especially if Khan can show that he can bring in good ratings on HBO for his next fight against his IBF mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson on December 10th.
