Prescott: I’ll give Khan a reminder of what happened to him in the past when I beat McCloskey

By Scott Gilfoid: Colombian knockout artist Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) is really hoping that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan tunes in on September 10th when Prescott fights Paul McCloskey in an World Boxing Association light welterweight title eliminator bout at the Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The winner of this fight will be on course to fight the winner of next months’ bout between Robert Guerrero and Marcos Maidana for the vacant WBA belt. Can you imagine a fight between Prescott and Maidana or Guerrero? That’s going to be a huge fight. But Prescott wants a chance to wipe out Khan again. He already knocked Khan out in the 1st round three years ago and would like to do it again. Think of Prescott as the George Foreman to Joe Frazier. Khan would be Frazier in this case and unable to match up with the power and the size of Prescott.

Prescott said “I promise that if Amir is watching [his fight against McCloskey], and he happened to forget what occurred back in 2–8, I will give him a reminder by my performance on September 10. I can only hope that after I win, Amir keeps his promise and gets back in the ring with me.”

Is Prescott serious? Khan will never set foot within 10 miles of a ring with Prescott. That isn’t going to happen. If it’s not abundantly clear that Khan wants no part of Prescott after three years, I don’t know what is. Khan was destroyed completely by Prescott in that fight in a way that showed who the boss was. There’s no way Khan will ever fight Prescott again.

First of all, Khan is going to go after an old guy in Erik Morales after his fight this Saturday night against Zab Judah instead of a young and relevant fighter, and after that Khan plans on moving up in weight to welterweight to pick and chose guys. Khan will fight some guys like Floyd Mayweather Jr, but he isn’t going to face big punchers like Mike Jones, Andre Berto or Victor Ortiz. It’s going to be Mayweather, Kell Brook and some other guys. Khan will probably move back in weight when the big fights dry up for him at that weight.

Prescott will get by McCloskey with ease to get a shot against the Guerrero vs. Maidana fight.
