By John F. McKenna (McJack): Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KO’s) who faces Zab Judah (41-6-0-2NC, 28 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, has struck back at the allegations made by Roger Mayweather that he is using steroids. Roger Mayweather is the uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is facing a defamation lawsuit by Khan stable mate Manny Pacquiao for making the same charges against him.

It was reported in the UK Daily Mail that Amir Khan angrily denied the allegations by Roger Mayweather that he got where he is by using illegal drugs. Khan stated “I’ve consistently proved that I am a clean fighter. This is nonsense. I’ve been tested repeatedly in my career, before and after fights at home and my base in Los Angeles.”

“Don’t forget I came through the Olympics (in 2004) where testing is very thorough. I’ve never refused the test, even though I could have done so when I received an unannounced knock on the door a month after my last fight with Paul McCloskey.”

Khan was visibly upset and passed on concerns that have been heard in America about Mayweather himself.

“It’s not for me to say but quite a few people over here (USA) thought that Floyd was on something when he fought Oscar De La Hoya because he suddenly looked so much bigger.”

Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach was quoted as saying: “I would question Roger Mayweather’s education about steroids, first of all. This is nothing more than hearsay. I can promise you that none of my fighters, Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao included, have been to the drugs chemist.”

While the boxing world has been waiting for a couple of years for the Floyd Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao dream fight, there is a real possibility that a fight between Khan and Mayweather may come first.

As for Freddie Roach, he believes that Amir Khan will be the best pound for pound fighter in the world within two years.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. at 34 cannot afford the luxury of time when it comes to fighting
Khan, who at 24 is only going to get better. Time is on Amir’s side.

As for the constant insinuations and accusations being thrown around by the Mayweather camp with no hard evidence to back up said accusations, it would seem that Roger & company need to be protected from themselves.
