By Scott Gilfoid: The chances of British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) holding onto his two domestic level titles on Saturday night against challenger Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KO’s) just too a dramatic nosedive today when the 6’1 1/2″ Chisora weighed in at a fat 261 lbs at the weigh-in.

That’s 17 pounds heavier than Chisora weighed in at for his last fight nearly a year ago against Sam Sexton in September. Fury, 23, weighed in at 255 1/2 pounds, which is six pounds lighter than Fury’s last fight against Marcelo Luiz Nascimento last February. Fury looks in much better shape for Saturday’s fight compared to the hefty looking Chisora.

It just makes you wonder what Chisora has been thinking by coming into the fight looking so badly out of shape. He must be thinking that he’s going to need the extra size to compete with Fury, but Chisora already is big enough for most of his fights at around 244 lbs. The extra weight that Chisora has put on for this fight seems to be pure lard as far as I can tell. He looks noticeably fatter than he was for the Sexton fight, so this isn’t muscle that he’s put on in the last year.

It looks like Chisora has been eating a steady diet of donuts and M & Ms washed down with some nice sugary soda. I was pulling for Chisora to win the fight by knockout, but after looking at how fat he was for the weigh-in, I think Fury has got this one in the bag. All he has to do is stay busy and wear down the rounded Chisora and he should be able to outwork him with no problems. Chisora really needed to be in at around 240 to win this fight. Even at 244, Chisora looked too fat. But to come in at 261, he’s going to be a like a giant blister bag for Fury to lance with his shots.
