Mayweather blood test is consistent

Image: Mayweather blood test is consistentBy Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: Many people have come against Floyd Mayweather’s demand for Olympic style blood testing. Some says he’s using it to avoid Manny Pacquiao while others agree that it is necessary. In the first set of negotiations, each fighter demanded something that had never been put into a contract before.

For Manny, it was a ten million dollar penalty for every pound over weight. For Floyd, it was random blood testing. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but neither fighter works for or is apart of the Nevada State Athletic Commission or any commission.

One thing I have noticed is that Mayweather has been consistent with his demand of random blood testing. I can honestly say I don’t know if he is doing this to save face or if he’s really intending on cleaning up boxing. Manny has not implemented his clause in any of his fights after handing it to Mayweather. This is no knock at Pacquiao. Had he used it in his contracts then the attention from his reluctance to go through with random blood testing would have probably disappeared. Some have asked “why doesn’t Floyd start a petition and hand it to the commission”? Maybe that’s not the way he sees fit to do it. The commission may think that is too much money to spend on a fighter. I believe if the commission were serious about this matter they would have done it a long time ago. They might be thinking “By doing this style of testing we might lose business. Nobody will want to come here and fight”.

It’s starting to catch on though. Andre Ward has recently expressed using the Olympic style drug testing in his match against Carl Froch. He said it will cost between $50,000 and $100,000. It may not catch fire right away, but all you need is a spark. But again, Mayweather has been consistent with his demand.
