Vitali, 39, wants to get the most out of what little time he has left in his career and squeezing a fight in for June is one way for Vitali to do that.

As far as a potential opponent for June, all that was said is that Vitali wants a big name for the fight. Vitali has a fight against top heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek planned for September, and Vitali also remains as a back up for his younger brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko for his bout against WBA heavyweight champion David Haye for June or July. If Wladimir’s injured abdominal tear doesn’t heal or if he suffers another injury that gets in the way of the Haye fight, Vitali will then step in for Wladimir to fight Haye. Obviously, the Haye fight would come first for Vitali if Wladimir pulls out.

Vitali spent much of his fight with Solis jabbing him and stalking him around the ring trying to land big shots. The pressure kept Solis on the move and was making him use his legs a lot more than he previously was accustomed to his his prior 17 fights as a pro. However, Solis seemed very comfortable with fighting the huge 6’7″ Vitali and didn’t look intimidated or over-matched like most of Vitali’s opponents have been in the past.

As for who Vitali could fight in June, there’s not a lot of interesting opponents out there for him in the top 15 right now. Perhaps the best possibilities would be from the following fighters: Alexander Povetkin, Alexander Dimitrenko, and Denis Boytsov. Those are about the best of the bunch.
