Haye hoping Vitali doesn’t lose to Solis, says that Vitali has gotten old

By William Mackay: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) has plans on fighting both Klitschko brothers before he retires on his 31st birthday in October. Haye is currently scheduled to fight IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in June or July. Haye is hoping that 39-year-old WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KO’s) doesn’t lost his next fight against unbeaten Cuban Odlanier Solis (17-0, 12 KO’s) on March 19th at the Lanxess-Arena, Cologne, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Haye doesn’t want Vitali to lose his title and end up being tarnished by the Solis fight. Haye previously was beaten by Solis while fighting as an amateur, which may be one of the reasons why Haye isn’t eager to see Solis winning the fight.

Haye says “Once I have knocked out Wladimir, then it’s on to his older brother…I hope Vitali doesn’t lose against Odlanier Sois so I can fight him afterwards. Vitali has grown older.”

Haye will have his hands full against Wladimir in his next fight. He’s looking way ahead by worrying about Vitali winning his fight and thinking about a future fight with him. Haye wants to make as much money as possible in his next two fights before retiring. However, he’s already considered an underdog against Wladimir and that won’t likely change as the fight nears.

The problem for Haye is his lack of size and experience. Although he’s currently the WBA champion, he took the backdoor route to pick up the title by facing the weakest of the champions Nikolay Valuev rather than taking on Wladimir or Vitali. Valuev, a big 7-foot Russian heavyweight with no hand speed or power, was considered a paper champion at the time that Haye fought him.
