Adamek’s promoter Kathy Duva said that the issues slowing the fight down have been “Ironed out” for a fight that will now take place in September after Wladimir’s April 30th tune-up bout against Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s).

Adamek, 34, was supposed to be facing former World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion Samuel Peter next, but that fight won’t happen now that the Klitschko fight is set for September. Adamek will instead likely take a stay busy tune-up bout against former WBC heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman (49-7-2, 40 KO’s) next in April. If this were a fight that had taken place five years ago, Adamek would likely be in deep trouble against the hard hitting Rahman.

However, Rahman is now 38, and nothing like what he once was as a fighter. However, Rahman can still punch, as seen by his last four fights in which he’s knocked out all four of them, two by 1st round KO. Rahman is a step up from the fighters that Adamek has been feasting on since he moved up to the heavyweight division in 2009. Since moving up from the cruiserweight division, Adamek has fought and beaten Andre Golota, Jason Estrada, Chris Arreola, Michael Grant and Vinny Maddalone. Rahman, even as deteriorated as he is now, is a better puncher than all of those fighters. Arreola can punch but he injured his left hand early in the fight and because of how much weight he was carrying around, Arreola ran out of gas early in the fight.

Kathy Duva had this to say about the Klitschko-Adamek negotiations in the ring.tv article: “I think we’re there/ We still have to cross our Ts and dot our I’s, though.”
