Unlike Chisora, who is no real threat to the 6’6″ Klitschko, Chagaev would have to be considered a dangerous opponent for Haye due to Chagaev’s skills, power and similar size. What makes Chagaev even more of a threat to Haye is that Chagaev is a southpaw and has a good lead left hand. Haye would probably prefer not to have to face someone as unpredictable and dangerous as Chagaev. Unlike Haye’s past fights at heavyweight against Monte Barrett, Nikolay Valuev, John Ruiz and Audley Harrison, Chagaev isn’t one of those opponents that Haye would be guaranteed to beat.

Wladimir was able to handle Chagaev easily, but Wladimir had huge reach advantage and an incredible jab that kept Chagaev bottled up on the outside unable to do much. Haye wouldn’t have that advantage and would have to take his chances at going toe-to-toe with Chagaev and hoping he can get him out of there before Chagaev landed one of his lefts.

This is the reason Haye is likely upset with Wladimir’s fight with Chisora. Haye will have to prove he’s good enough to beat Chagaev and he may not be able to do it. Chagaev is a real heavyweight with tons of amateur experience for Uzbekistan.
