Chisora wants fight with Haye after Klitschko

By William Mackay: Unbeaten British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) is hoping he can get a fight against WBA heavyweight champion David Haye should Chisora get by his next fight against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on April 30th at the SAP-Arena, in Mannheim, Germany. Chisora has very little chance of beating Wladimir, and it’s next to impossible that Haye will waste his time fighting Chisora coming off what will likely be a brutal knockout loss or one-sided 12 round decision.

Haye doesn’t give Chisora any chance whatsoever in beating Wladimir and neither do most knowledgeable boxing fans. Chisora, 6’1″, simply doesn’t have the size, reach or the power to compete with Wladimir on an even playing field. Chisora’s technique is lacking and his hand speed is rather slow. He’s been able to get this far based on fighting domestic level opposition and mowing them down due to the lack of quality heavyweights in the UK.

In an article at sportinglife.com, Chisora said “If he [Haye] doesn’t retire, then I could fight him. I think he would postpone retirement to fight me. He hasn’t earned much money in the game, so year, why not.”

Whatever money Haye has made thus far, it seems to have made him satisfied enough where he’s poised to retire at the end of the year and not look back. Haye doesn’t want to suffer defeats, and what better way to avoid that from happening then to retire at 31. It works even better if Haye avoids the Klitschko brothers and continues to fight the mostly average opposition he’s fought thus far.
