Image: Molitor-Booth: Is it Booth's time or will Molitor ruin the party?By Peter Wells: Two fighters have seen it all, families torn apart by tragedy and careers taking horrible turns for the worse. Steve Molitor has always followed in his brother Jeremy’s footsteps until May 4th 2002 when a horrible incident changed his families life. Jeremy was taking drugs and a raging alcoholic and he could not fight those demons. On that night he stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death and was convicted of 2nd degree murder in December 2004. He was sentenced to life in prison. Steve didn’t let that discourage him in fact it has made him stronger and won the IBF Super Bantamweight title 2 years later.

After a string of defence his career took a huge knock, this time in the ring. 21st November 2008 he was destroyed by World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Bantamweight champion Celestino Caballero in 4 rounds. Since then he hasn’t stepped in the ring with and top class opposition, and finally won back his title in March this year. That one defeat is still there in his mind and the fear of that happening again is a thought Molitor wishes not to think of.

As for Jason Booth a life as an alcoholic started when he was just a young lad, he mixed with the wrong crowd and his habits wouldn’t go away. Even when he was British champion he wasn’t sober during training. The drinking got worse 10 years ago when he found out his sister had committed suicide. He is now a recovering alcoholic thanks to his devoted wife and children. But his brother hasn’t followed his footsteps yet. Nicky Booth a former boxer had his career slashed when he was defeat by Molitor and after following Jason into drinking so far he hasn’t found a way out. Jason has blamed himself for that as his younger brother has always followed him and Booth is worried Nicky won’t follow him to recovery.

So both fighters have plenty to fight for and neither wants to taste defeat again. It would be a fairytale ending for Booth if he wins but Molitor is a top quality opponent.

Despite the chance that Molitor hasn’t fully recovered from his defeat to Caballero he should have enough to outbox Booth in a good encounter over the 12 rounds. I wish both fighters the best of luck.
