Steve Molitor retires

molitor64644By Allan Fox: Former two-time IBF super bantamweight champion Steve Molitor (34-3, 12 KO’s) has reportedly retired from boxing after a 13-year pro career in the sport. Molitor, 32, had struggled recently, losing two out of his last three fights in the past two years in defeats against Takalani Ndlovu and Carl Frampton.

Molitor said to medicinehatnews.com “I’m more about being a father now. We live quite a bit west of Toronto now, so training full time is not an option.”

Even if Molitor were to keep training, it would be difficult for him to find a place in the super bantamweight division because it’s gotten stronger in the last two years. Molitor is still pretty much as good as he ever was.

Molitor: Carl Frampton isn’t ready for this fight

Image: Molitor: Carl Frampton isn't ready for this fightBy Scott Gilfoid: This Saturday night Commonwealth and IBF Inter-Continental super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (14-0, 9 KO’s) will be putting his unbeaten record and domestic level straps on the line against former IBF super bantamweight champion Steve Molitor (34-2, 12 KO’s) at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

The 25-year-old Frampton has really stepped in this time in taking on the 32-year-old talented “The Canadian Kid” Molitor. Frampton is going to get schooled in a major way by Molitor, and there is no way shape or form that the little 5’5″ Frampton is going to win this fight. He’s moving up from domestic level to the very best at the world level in taking on Molitor and it’s going to end badly for Frampton. He’s going to look silly in front of his Irish fans. Molitor has beaten better fighter than Frampton, much better.

Molitor-Booth: Is it Booth’s time or will Molitor ruin the party?

Image: Molitor-Booth: Is it Booth's time or will Molitor ruin the party?By Peter Wells: Two fighters have seen it all, families torn apart by tragedy and careers taking horrible turns for the worse. Steve Molitor has always followed in his brother Jeremy’s footsteps until May 4th 2002 when a horrible incident changed his families life. Jeremy was taking drugs and a raging alcoholic and he could not fight those demons. On that night he stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death and was convicted of 2nd degree murder in December 2004. He was sentenced to life in prison. Steve didn’t let that discourage him in fact it has made him stronger and won the IBF Super Bantamweight title 2 years later.
