Image: Mosley-Mayweather: Who R U Picking?By Peter Wells: Tonight we will witness a fight that could change this era, of whom is the best and who will be next in the ring with Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather has been noted by so many as a boring fighter, but still he increases the margin of pay-per-view buys. How? Mayweather is a ticket seller, and his outstanding skills are spell binding. A fighter who only rises to the level he needs to, he doesn’t waste energy when it’s unnecessary. Tonight though it will be necessary for him to push himself to his full potential, as Mosley will no doubt push him to his absolute limit.

This fight means so much to both fighters, and also to the sport, it will separate ‘Great’ from ‘Elite’. Mosley is the underdog but came in underdog in maybe the best display of his career last January against on form Mexican Antonio Margarito. Although that was overshadowed by Margarito being caught using illegal handwraps, though luckily never got in the ring with them. Still it was a stunning performance by the then 37 year old.

Whether Mosley fans like to admit it or not, Shane has struggled against fighters similar to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Vernon Forrest was quick and a great boxer who twice beat Mosley and so did the counterpunching Winky Wright. His other defeat was to a prime Miguel Cotto who also outboxed Sugar Shane. Mosley blows hot and cold, but we all predict a red hot performance.

As for Mayweather, he hasn’t been pushed to his full potential, or if he has then he is pretty much doomed. He beat Zab Judah who has always been known for great speed, but hasn’t the power of Mosley or the quality. Mayweather is close to impossible to be caught flush, but what would be the outcome if Mosley was to succeed where Floyd’s last 40 opponents have failed.

Mayweather is like an animal that can’t be extinct; he easily adapts and always proves there is no blueprint on how to beat him. Mosley is a typical predator, but if you can’t catch the prey, you can’t beat it.

Mayweather won’t trade with Mosley, unless he loses his brain back in his mansion, but he will be pushed to give a more exciting display. Mosley won’t give up and will keep coming for 12 rounds looking for a chance to break Floyd. He will push Floyd, and Mayweather will somehow prevail, and his shoulder rolling and counterpunching style will come to save him again after a few very scary moments. That may even be a knockdown, but Mayweather has never been disheartened and will dominate late on to secure a close but unanimous decision. Then there’s only one thing to say. Bring on Manny Pacquiao!!!!
