Image: Klitschko-Chambers prediction: Wladimir by 8th round stoppageBy Dennis Broadhurst: Eddie Chambers (35-1 18kos) is 6ft 1 inch and only 209lbs in weight. In the old days you had fighters who were well under 200lbs fighting at heavyweight and becoming champions because there was no cruiserweight division but looking at Eddie Chambers, and his soft waistline, I ask myself “Why not put in the work to be a great cruiserweight?” Chambers has had some success at heavyweight but has already been defeated (Povetkin), he has above average hand speed, decent power and a decent chin.

If Eddie was a cruiser then he would have 9 lbs less fat on his body, would likely be faster and more powerful over the distance without fat slowing him down. However, we know he will pursue in his chosen division as that is where the money is to be made.

Tonight, Chambers will take on the champion, Wladimir Klitschko (53-3 47kos) to try to capture his WBO/IBF/IBO titles. Chambers really doesn’t have anything going for him in this fight, apart from perhaps a better chin than the fragile Klitschko. Chambers is not a fantastic mover and so I think that Klitschko will be able to get his jab going early on. If Chambers does get through then Wlad will just need to stay tight and then clinch, as he does.

After Chambers starts getting peppered with cautious jabs, Klitschko will likely start adding his hard right hands and maybe his left hook. I see Chambers trying to battle through but just not being big enough to compete with Klitschko who will have 35lbs and 6 inches of height on Chambers. Chambers will try to battle on but will be a state by round 7-8, in one of the barrages of punches I see Chambers getting knocked out or the referee or corner stopping the fight.
