By Steven Wain: On tomorrow’s (20th November 2009) Friday fight night bin man Rendall Munroe will put his EBU (European) super bantamweight title on the line; the fight will also be the final eliminator for the chance to fight for the WBC super bantamweight world title. Munroe will fight against Italian opponent Simone Maludrottu in a 12 round bout at Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre, Nottingham, United Kingdom.

Bin man Munroe (19-1, 8 KO’s) is a British boxer born in Leicester, he is the current holder of the EBU super bantamweight title as well as the Commonwealth Super Bantamweight title which he won in his last fight against Isaac Nettey. Munroe has never been stopped in 20 professional fights and during that time has only lost once in a title fight to Andy Morris via a 12 round unanimous points loss. Munroe has decent hand speed and smooth skills.

munroe326Simone Maludrottu (30-2, 11 KO’s) of Italy will be Munroe’s opponent; Maludrottu has only lost two times and just like Rendall has never been stopped. On January 10, 2008 Maludrottu traveled to Japan to challenge Japanese fighter Hozumi Hasegawa for the WBC world bantamweight championship, Maludrottu lost a 12 round unanimous decision to the Japanese champion, this giving him his second loss of his career. Simone likes to fight on the back foot and draw his opponents in to make a mistake were he takes advantage.

Both fighters have very little power between them they have only stopped 19 out of a possible 49 opponents, which is about 38-39% (Maths Is not my thing). So as you can properly see the possibility of a knockout is very slim, however never say never. Both fighters have very good record to protect but one must lose (Yes unless it’s a draw) and to be frank, I am confused on this one I have absolutely no idea who to pick, half my brain (yes I have one) says Munroe and the other half says Maludrottu so I’m stumped.

I do know one thing for certain and that is it will be an entertaining fight with both boxers using there skills to make the other make mistakes. Roll on Friday night.
