Mayweather dominates Marquez – Would Pac-Man stand a chance?

By Liam Santiago: Floyd Mayweather Jnr proved himself to be absolutely stunning last night, winning every round over Juan Marquez, who hardly landed a decent punch. The man who took Pacquiao to the wire, and even pushed him to a draw, in two fights who many say Marquez won, was made to look very average by Mayweather.

Floyd did take liberties by weighing in at 146 pounds instead of the 144 pound catch weight limit, but, it would not have made a difference what weight Mayweather weighed in at. He was too fast, too sharp and his reflexes were far too slick. Marquez hardly landed a decent punch, and when he did, Mayweather simply laughed it off. Any doubts we had about Mayweather losing anything from being inactive are now gone. For Mayweather to make a fighter of Marquez’s ability to look so very average is tremendous.

mayweather54554In their two bouts Marquez really gave Pacquiao problems, many believing Marquez won both. However, against Floyd he looked as bad as Malignaggi did against Hatton. My hat goes off to Marquez. He gave it everything. But against Mayweather, sometimes everything is simply not enough. I think Mayweather would do to pacquiao what he just did to Marquez. I can see him embarrassing Pacquiao and making him look an average fighter. What we do know now, is that Pacquiao does not deserve the lions share of the split if the two do ever meet. Mayweather has proved he is simply in a different league.

Shane Mosley and Mayweather broke into an argument/scrap in the ring, after the bout last night, which was simply to hype any future fights. Anyone who believes different is a fool. That little scrap will have been planned in advance. The two play basketball together, so I doubt they would resort to scrap in a boxing ring about butting into an interview. However, if the hype works then it’s all good.

Shane Mosley is a fighter who may cause Floyd more problems than Pacquiao. However, I see Cotto beating Pacquiao in November so he might be out of the question very soon. The important thing to remember with Mayweather is, there is no road which you can go down to beat him. You can’t out box him. You can’t pressure him, as Hatton and Marquez found out. I can see Mayweather fighting on for another six or seven years and remaining undefeated.
