The 35-year-old Pulev got away with an awful lot of fouls in the fight as far as holding and hitting and rabbit punches. Pulev will now fight the the winner of Klitschko – Joshua, according to Kalle Sauerland

Kubrat Pulev (24-1, 13 KOs) and Kevin Johnson (30-7-1, 14 KOs) came face-to-face at a press conference today at the Hotel Marinela in Sofia ahead of their WBA Intercontinental Heavyweight title clash on Friday night at the Arena Armeec.

Pulev makes the first defence of the WBA strap he claimed with a third-round stoppage victory over former World Champion Samuel Peter in December, and also risks his IBF mandatory position, which would see him in line to face the winner of Saturday’s World title showdown between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko.

Kevin Johnson says he’s retiring from boxing after loss to Anthony Joshua

johnson4444By Scott Gilfoid: Following his 2nd round knockout loss to undefeated heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua (13-, 13 KOs) last Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, UK, 35-year-old American Kevin Johnson (29-7-1, 14 KOs) has decided to call it a career and retire from the game.

Johnson dropped a big hint that he may have come into the fight with some kind of injury that effected his right arm because he said he was helpless to block Joshua’s left hooks. As it turns out, it was Joshua’s right hand that did the most damage in the form of rabbit punches while he was flurrying on him in the 1st round after Johnson made the mistake of retreating to the ropes.

Hearn bellyaching about how difficult it is to match Anthony Joshua

joshua56777By Scott Gilfoid: With the latest success in #6 WBC heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13 KOs) obliterating another old timer in Kevin Johnson (29-7-1, 14 KOs) in two rounds last Saturday night, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn is now bellyaching about how difficult it is for him to find decent opponents for the 25-year-old Brit to fight.

Of course, it would help if Hearn would open up his pocket book to find some nice cash to help lure some of these so-called reluctant heavyweights to take on the 6’6” Joshua. I mean, you’re not going to get quality opponents if you’re not willing to pay the kind of cash that the better fighters want.
