Pacquiao-Mayweather, Jr., Fight: Is It A Biggest Lie in Boxing History?
By Alon Calinao Dy: American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr., (26 knockouts, 0 defeat, 19 decisions) and Filipino congressman Manny Pacquiao (38 knockouts, 5 losses, 17 decisions), both fighters are the biggest names in the sweet science today. If ever these two boxing legends meet in the ring, this is the most popular, exciting and intriguing dream match in the history of boxing.
Sooner or later, the talks about the mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Manny Pacquiao will be over. We won’t see these legendary boxers face each other as time goes by. It’s all talk and I can’t believe everything I read or hear on the Internet, unless I see it with my own eyes that the deal has been sealed.
It’s not going to be easy. We can’t force a fighter if he doesn’t want to. Come on, let’s be real. A meeting between these two top fighters is not going to take place, right Top rank and Golden Boy promotions? People are tired or even irritated for this dream match, hoping the greatest battle of the century would materialize soon.
It’s better if both camps would listen to each other, settle whatever issue they have, and get it done. Floyd Jr., and Pacquiao owe their fans almost everything. Boxing fans deserve this super fight in order to solve the puzzle who’s the greatest fighter in the world. Forget about Juan Manuel Marquez. Let him retire a sore loser. People are no longer interested to watch a rematch between Marquez and Bradley. We have seen enough. Both are dull and boring fighters.
Juan Manuel Marquez has no interest in fighting Pacquiao anymore, yet he wants another shot against Bradley. He wants to prove again that he’s a better fighter just as what he did to Pacquiao a couple of years ago. He might even wear a shirt saying, “Bradley, I beat your balls.”
But it won’t happen. Their PPV numbers were a huge disappointment to promoter Bob Arum. If there will be a second match again, I think it would not be an exciting fight any longer. Bradley won’t give a second chance to Marquez just as Marquez did to Pacquiao.
However, if ever Marquez and Pacquiao engage in the ring again, it would be easy for the Filipino boxing icon to defeat Marquez. It would be long, miserable night for Marquez. This time, any kind of luck would save him no more. Marquez is going to lose! I used to believe it wasn’t a form of luck about Marquez’s strategy to break down Pacquiao. But now, I realize it’s a twist of fate.
If Marquez wants to cement his legacy in the sweet science, he must fight Pacquiao again. It would be the best option for him because Pacquiao would generate a big income into his pocket. After all, it’s the only way to prove to everyone that his victory wasn’t just a stroke of luck. But I really doubt Marquez would step up to the plate.
Going back to MayweatherJr., and Pacquaio, do you really believe there would be a bout between these two boxing superstars? Oh please, I don’t believe that. It’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard in the sport of boxing. The egos and different interests from both camps are there, that’s why the potential dream fight is off. We’re hoping to see them in the arena, not somewhere else or face other opponents. Also, both camps should RESPECT each other.
R-ead carefully the terms & conditions of each side
E-ach party should come into one agreement
S-ign a contract
P-romote the fight
E-xpect a biggest show in the sport of boxing
C-ease or stop bashing each other and train hard
T-ime to see who’s a true “pound-for-pound” king in the world.
Until there’s no fight between them, we won’t be able to see who’s the best fighter in the world. Mayweather Jr., always said, “I’m the best fighter in the world.” Now, this is the right moment you’ve been waiting for. Pacquiao, on the other hand, is waiting for the undefeated American fighter’s call and say, “Let’s get ready to rumble! ”
