Crawford vs. Beltran possible if Burns doesn’t take fight

crawford676By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #1 WBO lightweight contender Terence Crawford (22-0, 6 KO’s) looked very impressive last night in whipping Russian Andrey Klimov (16-1, 8 KO’s) by a 10 round unanimous decision on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto vs. Delvin Rodriguez fight card in Orlando, Florida.

Next up for Crawford could be a fight against #3 WBO Raymundo Beltran (28-6-1, 17 KO’s) if WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (36-2-1, 11 KO’s) hasn’t healed yet from his broken jaw or if his promoter chooses to steer him around Crawford, according to Dan Rafael.

There’s still a possibility that the World Boxing Organization could order a rematch between Burns and Beltran due to the controversy that surrounds their fight last September in Glasgow, Scotland.

Terence Crawford vs. Andrey Klimov this Saturday on HBO

crawford1111By Allan Fox: #1 WBO lightweight contender Terence Crawford (21-0, 16 KO’s) will be in action this Saturday night against undefeated #6 IBF, #11 WBO, Andrey Klimov (16-0, 8 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto vs. Delvin Rodriguez card on HBO at the Amway Center, in Orlando, Florida, USA.

This is kind of a step down for Crawford from his last fight against Alejandro Sanabria. Crawford stopped the hard hitting Sanabria in the 6th round last June.

The 31-year-old Klimov’s claim to fame was a controversial 10 round majority decision win over John Molina last June in Shelton, Washington, USA. That was a very questionable win for Klimov because Molina had landed by far the harder shots, and he was almost as busy as Klimov.

Terence Crawford vs. Andrey Klimov on October 5th in Orlando, Florida

crawford1111By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBO, #3 IBF, lightweight contender Terence Crawford (21-0, 16 KO’s) will be facing unbeaten fringe contender #12 WBO, Andrey Klimov (16-0, 8 KO’s) on October 5th in a scheduled 10 round bout on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto vs. Delvin Rodriguez fight card on HBO at the Amway Center, in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Klimov, 31, just struggled to a close 10 round majority decision last June in a fight that very well could have gone to Molina. I see this as a step down for Crawford from his fight against Breidis Prescott last March, and I’d like to see Crawford facing some live bodies before he gets his shot at the WBO title and wins against whoever is holding it.

I think we could see it vacated at some point before Crawford faces the current champion. If history is any guide, I see the WBO title being vacated real soon, and then Crawford can go after the vacant strap against the next highest contender at WBO.

Hearn wants Ricky Burns vs. Terence Crawford in Glasgow

crawford332By Scott Gilfoid: With the World Boxing Organizations pushing unbeaten American talent Terence Crawford (21-0, 16 KO’s) to number 1 in their lightweight rankings, he is now poised for a title shot against WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (36-2, 11 KO’).

If you thought Burns had problems against a superb fighter like Adrien Broner, just imagine what it’ll be like for him facing Crawford. With Broner, Burns was able to simply say no to the fight and not have to worry about getting stripped of his title by the WBO.

Terence Crawford – Yuriorkis Gamboa possible for October 5th

gamboa545By Allan Fox: A fight between undefeated lightweights Terence Crawford (21-0, 16 KO’s) and Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16 KO’s) is in the works for October 5th, says Dan Rafael of ESPN. The idea is to have the Crawford-Gamboa fight as the co-feature on the proposed Miguel Cotto vs. Devlin Rodriguez card at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, the promoter for the 25-year-old Crawford, wants to put him in with Gamboa. Arum has spoken to Crawford’s promoter 50 Cent, and he in turn still needs to speak with Gamboa to see if he has any interest in taking this fight.
