Khan will dominate the welterweight division, says trainer Virgil Hunter

khan777By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter says that Khan is poised to dominate the 147 pound division. He feels that Khan has the skills to take over the division and carry it on his back. With Floyd Mayweather Jr. about to retire, and Manny Pacquiao looking he’s almost over-the-hill, Khan would be the guy that takes over for them.

I’m not sure if it’s going to work that way because there are guys like Marcos Maidana and Keith Thurman that Khan would obviously need to fight and beat for him to prove that he’s going to carry the division.

Khan must stop Algieri and force Mayweather to the table, says Bunce

khan566(Photo credit: Ed Diller/DiBella Entertainment) By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) is under all kinds of pressure this Friday in his fight against Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Even though the fight is seen as a mismatch with Khan being a huge favorite, he really needs a knockout in this fight to help improve his chances of getting a payday fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September.

Steve Bunce from ESPN is one of many people who recognize the almost impossible situation the 28-year-old Khan is for this fight against Algieri. Khan has got to be able to not only beat Algieri, 31, but also take him out in a destructive manner to get Mayweather to give him the fight he’s been asking for since I can remember.

Khan needs to go out and destroy a fighter who has never been knocked out in the past. Algieri has only been beaten once, and that was by Manny Pacquiao last November. Even the big punching pressure fighter Ruslan Provodnikov couldn’t do the job on Algieri last year, and wound up losing the fight by a 12 round decision.

Khan worried about frightening Mayweather with his speed against Algieri

khan456By Scott Gilfoid: Like most fighters, Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) look good every time out so that he can impress boxing fans, and get the bigger fights. But in the case of his scheduled bout this Saturday against Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs), Khan is worried about looking too good and potentially frightening away Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Khan wants to fight Mayweather in September this year in what would be Mayweather’s last fight of his career. Khan wants to be the one that sends Mayweather into retirement with a loss.

Khan thinks Mayweather is looking for any excuse not to fight him

khan67777By Scott Gilfoid: For some reason, Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) thinks that Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his team are hoping that he’ll fail against Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) this Friday so that they won’t have to face him next September.

Khan has convinced himself that Mayweather really doesn’t want to fight him, and it just looking for an excuse to reject him as his September fight. Khan thinks that if he even stubs his toe against Algieri, it will result in Mayweather dismissing him as a potential opponent because of him not looking perfect.

Khan: The Mayweather fight has to happen if I look good against Algieri

khan85By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) will be back in the ring this Friday night against Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) on Spike TV on Premier Boxing Champions from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York. Khan believes that he can pretty much wrap up a nice little payday fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. for September if he can look impressive in beating the 31-year-old Algieri.

Khan has been put in the perfect position for him to shine in this fight. Algieri can’t punch to save his life, is easy to hit, doesn’t have a great chin, and is coming off of dreadfully one-sided 12 round unanimous decision to Manny Pacquiao in November of 2014.

algieri5By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO 140lb champion Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) says he’ll be making sure that he uses his jab as one of his main weapons against Britain’s Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) in their fight two weeks from now on May 29th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Algieri, 31, feels that he got away from using his jab in his last fight against Manny Pacquiao last November. Before that fight, Algieri had always used his jab frequently in his fights to control his opponents.

Khan: I need my A-game against Algieri

khan85By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) has made no secret about him wanting to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, but he’s also not taking his concentration of getting ready for his May 29th fight against former WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Khan, 28, isn’t taking this fight seriously because he realizes that if he suffers a defeat against Algieri, he can then kiss goodbye any chances of him getting a f fight against Mayweather.
