Hughie Fury vs. Ivica Perkovic this Friday, July 12th in Dundalk, Ireland

fury5656By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (6-0, 4 KO’s) will be fighting this Friday night against 39-year-old Croatian fighter Ivica Perkovic (19-20, 14 KO’s) in a scheduled 6 round bout at the Fairways Hotel, in Dundalk, Ireland.

It takes a second to get over the shock of seeing the god awful record that Perkovic has, but actually his record looks outstanding compared to the 18-year-old Fury’s last opponent Tomas Mrazek (7-40-6, 5 KO’s).

As you can see, Hughie’s promoter Mick Hennessy is taking it very, very easy with Hughie to the point where I don’t see how he’s getting any benefit out of the fight.

Hughie Fury vs. Darren Corbett on July 12th in Dundalk, Ireland

fury333By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (6-0, 4 KO’s) will be facing an opponent with a winning record next month on July 12th against Ireland’s Darren Corbett (29-8-1, 16 KO’s) in a scheduled 6 round bout at the Fairways Hotel, in Dundalk, Ireland.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that Corbett is 40-years-old, has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights, hasn’t fought since last December, and hasn’t fought anyone that you can call a good fighter. So in other words, Corbett has won 29 fights, but he’s won them against guys that most people have never heard of and probably never will hear of unless they become a boxing historian.

Hughie Fury – Tomas Mrazek tonight in Norfolk, UK

fury4By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (5-0, 4 KO’s) has his 6th mismatch of his career tonight against journeyman Tomas Mrazek (7-40-6, 5 KO’s) in a 6-round scheduled fight that will be lucky if it goes one round at the Epic Centre, Magdalen Street, Norwich, Norfolk, UK.

Hughie, 6’6”, is on a mission to break former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson’s record of being the youngest heavyweight champion in the world when he picked up a world title at the age of 20.

Hughie is doing a good job of padding his own record against opposition that I wouldn’t even call C level, but I don’t see Hughie facing the kind of opposition that is putting him on course for even coming close to breaking Mike Tyson’s record.

Hughie Fury meets Tomas Mrazek tomorrow night, June 15th

fury5656By Scott Gilfoid: 6’6” heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (5-0, 4 KO’s) will be looking for his sixth straight win tomorrow night against journeyman Tomas Mrazek (7-40-6, 5 KO’s) in a six-round bout at the Epic Centre, Magdalen Street, Norwich, UK.

Fury, 18, has all the advantages in this fight – speed, power, youth, you name it. This is just another mismatch that is supposedly getting Fury ready for better opponents.

I don’t agree with the idea that total fodder opposition gets one ready for better fighters. Fury’s promoter should skip to the chase and put Fury in with a decent B level fighter and see how he does.

Hughie Fury destroys Kovarik in 1st round TKO

fury4By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Hughie Fury (5-0, 4 KO’s) stayed in the unbeaten ranks with a 1st round TKO victory over 38-year-old Ladislav Kovarik (10-15, 5 KO’s) last Saturday night at the Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent, UK. Fury, 18, knocked the heavyset Kovarik down twice in the 1st round before the fight was stopped at 1:37 of the round by referee Mark Green following a second knockdown.

The first knockdown came from a chopping right hand to the head of Korvarik. Fury had gone right hand crazy and was nailing Kovarik with one right hand after another without using his left at all and finally Kovarik collapsed on the canvas after Hughie caught him with a chopping right hand to the head. After Kovarik got up, Hughie continued to unload almost nothing but right hands until he dropped him with a sweeping left hand that didn’t have much power on it.

Hughie Fury vs. Ladislav Kovarik this Saturday, June 8th

fury564534By Scott Gilfoid: 18-year-old heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (4-0, 3 KO’s) will be facing an opponent over twice his age this Saturday night in 38-year-old journeyman Ladislav Kovarik (10-14, 5 KO’s) on the undercard of the James DeGale vs. Stjepan Bozic fight at the Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom.

The Fury- Kovarik fight is stacked up to be another mismatch for the young Fury to pad his record with. I mean, Kovarik, from the Czech Republic, has lost 11 of his last 13 fights and one of the losses was a 1st round knockout to Richard Towers. I don’t really see the gain for the 6’6” Hughie in fighting someone of this caliber.

You’d like to see a fighter being put in with someone with at least someone that can give young Hughie some rounds, wouldn’t you?

Hughie Fury in action this Saturday, June 8th against TBA

fury433By Scott Gilfoid: 18-year-old heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (4-0, 3 KO’s) will be back in the ring this Saturday, June 8th in a scheduled 4 round bout against an opponent still to be determined at the Glow, Bluewater, Greenhithe, Kent, United Kingdom.

The fact that the 6’6” Fury still doesn’t have an opponent with the fight less than a week away speaks volumes for the kind of fighter he’ll likely be in there with on Saturday. Whoever it is, I just hope they’re still sporting a pulse because I want to see Hughie fight a live body for a change instead of the victims they’ve been carting out thus far in Fury’s previous four fights.

Hughie Fury vs. Moses Matovu tonight in Belfast, Northern Ireland

fury433By Scott Gilfoid: 18-year-old heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (2-0, 2 KO’s) will be looking for this third straight win tonight against 36-year-old journeyman Moses Matovu (4-26-3) in a scheduled 4 round bout at the City Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Fury’s promoter is taking it really easy on the 6’6” Fury because of the risk involved in putting a green fighter like him against someone that can actually fight.

Matovu has lost his last 12 fights and he fights in the cruiserweight division, not the heavyweight division. He doesn’t have one knockout on his resume despite having fought 33 times in the past.
