David Haye: It’s my destiny to regain the heavyweight championship

haye7888By Scott Gilfoid: The ring rusty often injured British heavyweight David “Hayemaker” Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) will be making one of his rare appearances this Saturday night against fringe contender Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Haye is blabbering about it being his destiny to recapture a world title in his comeback. If Haye does recapture a world title, he’ll likely be 36 or 37 by the time that happens, because he sure as heck won’t be getting a shot at any of the titles in 2016.

Haye arguably didn’t deserve to win a heavyweight world title in November 2009 in beating then WBA champion Nikolay Valuev by a very, very questionable 12 round majority decision despite being badly outworked and out-landed by the big Russian.

Haye: I’m going to smash De Mori to pieces

haye100By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) is bragging again about his upcoming fight against what figures to be the sacrificial lamb in the slick-backed, pomade-haired Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) this Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Haye is bragging about how he’s going to smash the 33-year-old De Mori to smithereens, as if doing that would be a huge accomplishment. A total destruction of De Mori would mean something if De Mori had actually beaten some quality fighters before to make him a good scalp for Haye, but the fact of the matter he has not.

All the guys on De Mori’s resume are of the obscure variety. De Mori was knocked out in the 1st round by someone named John Wyborn in 2004. De Mori never avenged the loss for some reason.

De Mori expects early KO ending in Haye fight

1-Haye v De Mori 2By Scott Gilfoid: 33-year-old Mark de Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) doesn’t see his fight with former two division belt holder David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) lasting more than four rounds in their fight on January 16 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

De Mori feels that he’ll either get to the 35-year-old Haye and KO him with a brutal left hook to the head like he’s knocked out many of his other opponents in his career, or Haye will get to him to score a knockout.

Haye bragging about how he’s going to KO De Mori

haye55By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) has a soft opponent he’s facing in Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) on January 16th, and he’s now bragging about how he’s going to KO the guy when they face each other at the O2 Arena in London, UK. The fight supposed to be televised on DAVE.

For Haye’s sake, he had better hope he’s able to KO De Mori, because he could wind up getting knocked out by him if he lets him hang around for a long time. I mean, Haye is a former cruiserweight, and he’s not really built to be taking head shots from a heavyweight, even a mediocre one like De Mori.

I’ve seen some of De Mori’s fights, and he pretty much doesn’t impress me at all. He looks like a part time bodybuilder more so than a fighter, and he’s not exactly the fastest guy in the ring.

Haye-De Mori undercard looking kind of thin on talent

1-Haye v De Mori 2By Scott Gilfoid: Well, the January 16th, David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) vs. Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) card just got arguably a little weaker with the former featherweight strap holder Billy Dib (39-4, 23 KOs) suffering an injury that has caused him to pull out of the card at the O2 Arena in London, England. This was supposed to be the co-feature bout.

To be honest, Dib wasn’t a great choice to begin with, given that he’d lost 3 out of his last 7 fights. I mean, that’s not exactly someone whose career is going swimmingly, is it? Dib had been knocked out in his last fight in 3 rounds by Takashi Miura last year in May 2015, and he hadn’t fought since then. Dib was supposed to fight journeyman Jamie Speight (13-8, 1 KOs) in a 10 round bout.

Haye can’t afford loss to De Mori

1-Haye De Mori O2 ArenaBy Scott Gilfoid: Former two division world champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) figures that he’s at least two fights away from a potential clash against unbeaten British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs).

Haye thinks the fight is possible in 2016 against Joshua if they both win their next two fights, but he’s not sure if Joshua will go after a world title soon. Joshua could try and fight the winner of the Charles Martin vs. Vyacheslav Glazkov fight for the IBF heavyweight title. Joshua is also ranked #2 by the WBC.

David Haye not worried about Tyson Fury

haye3333By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) says he’s not worried at all about IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 19 KOs) in coming back to the sport after being outside of the ring for 3 ½ years. Haye wants to win world titles and he’s targeting unbeaten British/Commonwealth champion Anthony Joshua as someone he feels will give him a good test.

As for Fury, Haye acknowledges that there’s no way the two of them will fight because Fury has already said he won’t give Haye a chance to fight him because of his bad experiences in the past when attempting to face him in 2013.

Haye suffered two injuries that wiped out fights with Fury. Because of the bad experience Fury had with Haye, he’s not going to give him the time of day. Fury says he’ll even vacate his heavyweight titles if forced to defend against Haye.

Haye looking past De Mori, wants Joshua fight

haye4By Scott Gilfoid: In something has to make you question British heavyweight David Haye’s motives for making a comeback, he is already looking past his next opponent Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) towards a hoped for clash against British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in 2016. Haye faces De Mori next month on January 16th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Haye, 35, says he’d like to fight the unbeaten 6’6”, 245lb Joshua by the summer of 2016 if possible. This would mean that Haye would likely only have time for his one tune-up fight against the 33-year-old De Mori before he’d go straight into a clash against Joshua in the summer.

Haye: Fury knows my style would murder his style

1-Haye Press ConferenceBy Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) is really excited about Tyson Fury beating Wladimir Klitschko last Saturday night to win all of Klitschko’s titles. Haye says he wants to face Fury so that he can capture his IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight titles that he won off of the 39-year-old Klitschko.

Haye isn’t so excited about beating the stuffing out of Fury, but rather he’s more interested in beating him so that he can win all of the titles that he now has in his collection. Haye feels that he has the style to whip Fury when/if that fight ever takes place.

David Haye wants Tyson Fury fight

haye3333By Scott Gilfoid: Former two division world champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) says he’s got his sights set on facing IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) whether he wants to face him or not. Haye, 35, says he’s going to work his way into the No.1 mandatory spot for one of Fury’s three major titles, and either force him to defend the belt against him or vacate the title to avoid him.

Haye has already heard that Fury say that he wants nothing to do with a fight against him or WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder now that he’s holding three of the four heavyweight titles.
