Olusegun Ajose and Hank Lundy fight on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights on 7/19

lundy453By Allan Fox: Hank Lundy (22-3-1, 11 KO’s) will be trying to halt his 2-fight losing streak this Friday night against light welterweight contender Ajose Olusegun (31-1, 14 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Rockingham Park, Salem, in New Hampshire, USA.

Just last year, 29-year-old Lundy had been trying to get a fight against WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner, but he was ignored by him. Lundy has since lost his last two fights against Raymundo Beltran and Viktor Postol.

There’s no change of Lundy getting a fight against Broner now, if there ever was one. Lundy is now fighting at light welterweight, but he didn’t look good in his first fight at that weight against Postol last March.

Matthysse to face Mike Dallas Jr. on January 26th; Lundy not fighting

matthysse45By Dan Ambrose: Interim WBC light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30 KO’s) will be facing fringe contender Mike Dallas Jr. (19-2-1, 8 KO’s) on January 26th instead of Hank Lundy at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to fightnews.com, Lundy was pulled out of the fight by his manager, as he didn’t get permission to face Matthysse.

Lundy didn’t stand a chance against Matthysse and neither does Dallas Jr., who has lost two out of his last four fights. Both Lundy and Dallas Jr. are about the same in terms of talent and it doesn’t really matter that Lundy is out and Dallas Jr. is in. They’re both mismatches.

Matthysse vs. Lundy on January 26th on Showtime at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

matthysse3433By Dan Ambrose: The January 26th bout between interim WBC light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30 KO’s) and Hank Lundy (22-2-1, 11 KO’s) has been moved from Los Angeles to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, The Joint, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Matthysse, 30, has made no secret to the fact that he’s hoping to face WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in 2013. However, it’s up to their mutual promoters at Golden Boy Promotions and the World Boxing Council whether Matthysse will get that fight because Garcia doesn’t appear to be chomping at the bit to face Matthysse.

Matthysse vs. Lundy on Alexander-Brook undercard on 1/19 in Los Angeles, CA

Image: Matthysse vs. Lundy on Alexander-Brook undercard on 1/19 in Los Angeles, CABy Dan Ambrose: WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30 KO’s) will be fighting a well known lightweight American Hank Lundy (22-2-1, 11 KO’s) on the undercard of the Devon Alexander vs. Kell Brook fight on January 19th at the Nokia Theater, in Los Angeles, California, USA. The Matthysse-Lundy fight is being negotiated still, according to RingTV, but it looks like it’s going to be added to the Brook vs. Alexander card.

It’s a peculiar choice for Matthysse because Lundy is coming off of a loss in his last fight to Raymundo Beltran and Lundy was already exposed previous to that by John Molina. However, Lundy is well known to the casual boxing fans in the U.S because of his fights on ESPN2, so it makes sense from that standpoint, if nothing else.
