Danny Garcia vs. Keith Thurman prediction

Image: Danny Garcia vs. Keith Thurman prediction

By Jeff Aranow: Trainer Abel Sanchez says he thinks WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia takes the unification fight against WBA champion Keith “One Time” Thurman on March 4. The two fighters are now a little over a month away from their big fight on Showtime Championship Boxing on CBS rom the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Sanchez says he wasn’t impressed with Thurman’s past fights against Luis Collazo and Diego Chaves. Thurman was hurt in both of those fights. He also barely beat Shawn Porter last year in a grueling 12 round fight in which Thurman had to use a lot of movement to keep from getting chopped down.

Thurman unimpressed with Danny Garcia’s power

Image: Thurman unimpressed with Danny Garcia’s power

By Jeff Aranow: WBA World welterweight champion Keith “One Time’ Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) sees nothing in the offensive arsenal of WBC 147lb champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) that worries him about their fight on March 4 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Thurman sees Garcia as a basic puncher, who doesn’t have the punching power to hurt him in his estimation.

Thurman notes that Danny Garcia couldn’t drop Mauricio Herrera, Robert Guerrero or Lamont Peterson. He believes that if he couldn’t knock those guys down, then he surely won’t be able to put him down on the canvas either.

Garcia-Thurman: Guardian Angel?

Image: Garcia-Thurman: Guardian Angel?

By Chris Miller: Ask most fighters and they will tell you “Boxing is 90% mental and 10% physical.” Nobody knows the exact ratio but for sure a huge chunk of ability is certainly housed between the ears. There is nobody who can antagonize or ignite emotion in a fighter the way trainer Angel Garcia manages to.

Good or bad, whatever your views are, he seems to be an Angel to his son WBC champion Danny ‘Swift’ Garcia, but a demon to any opponent. That opponent now is current WBA welterweight champion Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman.

Garcia’s father Angel Garcia took command of the press conference Wednesday in attempting to shout down Thurman when he was at the podium trying to speak. It got to the point where Angel got up and tried to get at Thurman. Angel had to be held back from getting at Thurman. It was pretty one-sided.

By Jeff Aranow: Undefeated #8 WBA junior middleweight contender Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (17-0, 11 KOs) will be fighting #8 WBC Jorge Cota (25-1, 22 KOs) in the co-feature bout on March 4 on the Danny Garcia vs. Keith Thurman card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Showtime Championship Boxing will likely be televising the card. However, there’s a chance that CBS could televise the fight card, according to RingTV.

Lubin, 21, is still a prospect at this point in his career despite him being ranked by the WBA at No.8. He’s got a lot of work to do before he’s ready to mix it up with champions like the Charlo brothers and Erislandy Lara.

Danny Garcia: Khan is a better fighter than Thurman

Image: Danny Garcia: Khan is a better fighter than Thurman

By Jeff Aranow: WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) says he’s not worried at all about his next opponent WBA World welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) for their fight on March 4, because he believes that Amir “King” Khan is a better fighter than him.

Garcia knocked out Khan four years ago in the 4th round in 2012. Khan was giving Garcia a lot of problems in the first two rounds until getting hurt by a big left hook in round 3 and then finished off in the 4th.

By Eric Baldwin: WBC welterweight champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) says he’s going to defeat WBA Super World 147lb champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) for sure when the two of them face each other on March 4 at a still to be determined venue in New York. The Garcia vs. Thurman fight will be televised on Showtime Championship Boxing on March 4. It should be a very good fight, and possibly better than Thurman’s match against Shawn Porter last summer.

Garcia, 28, is the underdog in this fight, but it doesn’t seem to bother him any. He believes he’s going to get the better of Thurman by breaking him down slowly and winning round by round. Garcia is one of those fighters that uses his ring IQ to get the better of his opponents. Garcia always finds a way to win.

Thurman: Danny Garcia is flat-footed and slow

garcia10

By Dan Ambrose: Last night, WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia (33-0, 19 KOs) cleared the way for his big unification match Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) with a 7th round knockout victory over Samuel Vargas (25-3-1, 13 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions on Spike from the Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.

Thurman was in attendance to watch the Garcia-Vargas fight, and he came away unimpressed by what he saw of the hand speed and the mobility of Garcia. In Thurman’s opinion, the 28-year-old Garcia is “flat-footed and slow” and he plans on taking advantage of those weaknesses when they face each other on March 4 in a unification match at a still to be determined venue in the U.S.
